I am a bird watcher so I loved the garden setting. I also walked the road leading up to the mountain. The pool was big enough to swim in, not just dangle the legs over the edge. Breakfast offered choice and included fresh juice, fruit and coffee as well as the main. Local buses plus direct buses to Guadalajara pass in front of the hotel so it is easy to get around the area very cheaply.

Overlooking Chapala Lake, El Chante hotel features an outdoor swimming pool, a spa and a beauty salon.
