The property is non-smoking and is set 1.7 km from Kyoto Station. Family room with 4 beds had 4 proper comfortable beds which was fantastic for us family travelling with teens. Staff are friendly, the hotel was beautifully decorated with new year decorations. Public bath is not very big for a large hotel and could get busy but maintained well. Women’s bath has a separate security card access which I thought is great if you wanted to go in when it’s quiet. The room itself has a nice large bathtub if you prefer to bathe in private. Breakfast buffet was delicious with a lot of local varieties. If you like sushi and looking for a easy meal, the sushi shop right across from the hotel entrance is reasonably priced and their ingredients were really fresh (wholesale market is right next door which you can go have a look as well).

There are 2 indoor hot springs baths and an open-air bath at the property. I loved the common areas and the private onsens on site. They had 3 so you never had to wait for a long time to use one. It was just amazing. Loved the 10% off voucher for the only restaurant in town.

It was an incredible stay, the place has a unique energy and the meditation, prayers and fire ceremony and the night tour of the cementery are very memorable. The food was one of the best we had in our trip - and it was vegan
