Perfect temperature. The open-air bath was nice, but the hot spring was lukewarm. I guess it was because the weather outside is too cold?! The lobby and seating areas are very relaxing and beautiful. The ryokan let guests take photos of the indoor and open-air baths before check-out at 10am.

A 5-minute walk from Yudanaka Train Station, Tawaraya offers Japanese-style accommodations with free Wi-Fi and a flat-screen TV. One of my favorite ryokans, I stayed there for 2 nights, great facilities, great diner, great location for Snow monkey park as very near to Yudanaka station, and great staff. Especially the two ladies who manage the place are so kind and very hospitable. I have the outdoor onsen just for myself after long trek at Snow Monkey park, love it!

At Daymaruya Ryokan, guests can enjoy hot-spring baths and traditional Japanese-style accommodations with free wired internet access. Wonderful ryokan in Shibu Onsen. Hosts are amazing - picked us up from Yudanaka station and dropped us back, same with the monkey park. Made everything so easy for us. Ryokan has indoor and outdoor onsens, the outdoor onsen is private. We used it at night when it was snowing and it was magical. Plenty of eateries close by, although the hours vary for each. Make sure you have cash as many don't accept cards.

Aburaya Tousen offers luxurious contemporary Japanese-style accommodation with an amazing 11 types of hot-spring baths and free WiFi. The service was impeccable, with some English spoken, but they appreciated our efforts in Japanese. We arranged collection from the station prior which made it easier with luggage when there was snow and ice on the ground. Our room was spacious, with separate shower and toilet, lots of accessories. The highlights were the excellent Kaiseki dinners and the hot tub on our balcony. After a few weeks rushing around, it was nice to relax a bit. Wifi was good. 3 of my family don't eat any seafood, which is a bit tricky, but the kitchen planned 2 really excellent menus showcasing local ingredients. We also had a visit from the very charming hostess. I would highly recommend staying at the Aburaya Tousen as a base for visiting the Snow Monkeys and Obuse for the Hokusai museum. The buffet breakfasts had lots of choice too. Absolutely loved it.

志賀高原 白い温泉 渓谷の湯 se găsește în Yamanouchi, la 14 km de Jigokudani Yaen Kōen, și oferă pârtie de schi și vedere la munte. The location and scenery were beautiful. The room was tasteful and luxurious. The food was delicious and authentic. The staff were lovely, it felt like family and their service and attention was flawless.
