Great location very close to old part of town, lovely and spacious room, very helpful staff. Nice lounge on our floor to make tea and coffee and play cards. We were there for the carnival and it was a great choice.

The location of Hotel Spalentor is perfect for a walking tour through the old town. The staff were extremely helpful, friendly and gave us enough information to walk and visit the city highlights to make our one day stay memorable. The hotel room was clean and a perfectly comfortable bed with excellent linen and towels. The breakfast included was fresh, varied and plentiful. We enjoyed our stay thanks to all the help we were given by the staff to enjoy the city. A pleasure to stay at the hotel. Would highly recommend.

Central location not far from Basel Bad train station. About 15 minutes walk to old town but frequent buses including #30 to Spalentor and the SBB station. Very nice staff, allowed us to check in a bit early as our room was ready.

Spacious apartment, 2 bedrooms, comfortable beds, very clean everywhere, kitchen equipped with everything you need, balcony with greenery, quiet neighborhood. Close to bus 50 to the airport and tram 1 and 3 to the train station and center, about 1 km walk to Spalentor Gate. The owner, Kai, was very kind and helped us with a lot of useful information.

We were greeted in a warm and friendly manner for our one night stay at Hotel Spalentor. While not rated as a comfortable walk, the hotel is within walking distance of the station. It is also nearby to eating places in the old town and the University Botanical Gardens are across the street. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable and the breakfast offered a variety of choices. Using information from a brochure in the foyer, we were able to download a free (and informative) walking tour in the old town.

Wonderful welcome. Great staff. Excellent location, if coming from the airport free *#50 bus (with confirmation) to SBBB train station, then *free #30 bus (sameSBBB stop) to Spalentor stop. Hotel 2 minute walk from stop. Perfect location, walk to city centre. Staff are so helpf. Hotel is clean and bright. Small bar in foyer is more affordable than outer bars. Breakfast is quite good.

The Hotel zum Spalenbrunnen (500 m/7 min. walk west of Marktplatz) is located near Spalentor. I stayed in a room for 3 adults and 1 child under 7 years old with a private bathroom with shower and a view of the inner courtyard. There was a kettle in the room, so I could make tea or coffee at any time. There were free toiletries in the bathroom. Breakfast is served on the ground floor in the Indian restaurant Mandir in the form of a buffet.

Situated in a great spot with a view of the Spalentor gate. Cozy hotel with fantastic staff, Vivienne and Cecile were so hospitable, sweet and helpful. We had a wonderful time in Basel and the attitude of the staff and hotel hospitality contributed to this. We got engaged on our last night and the girls surprised us with Prosecco and room decor. It was a lovely surprise and a memory we will cherish. We will definitely be staying again!!

Really, really cozy, quiet, clean and so cozy place! A great, even ideal location for a tourist stay and for work. Very close to Barfüserplatz with perfect tram comunication, and few steps only from the most important oldtown points rathaus, cathedral, Spalentor. Also the same to SBB main station and Mittlere Brücke. Very nice, helphul and profesional service - many thanks for all the advice and care :-)

We had a lovely room which looked out over the street at the front, and if I leaned out the window I could take an unrestricted photo of the Gate of Spalen. Bus 30 to and from station 5 minutes and a couple of minutes walking from the Spalentor bus stop to the Hotel. Easy walking from hotel to everything Didn't have the breakfast but plenty of options close by Room large and comfortable, bed too. Great stay, staff helpful

The location of this hotel is excellent. It is very close to the Spalentor Gate giving access to the old town of Basel and just across the road from the University's botanic gardens which are very interesting. There were a range of restaurants within walking distance and the reception staff were happy to make recommendations to us. We enjoyed sitting in the hotel's garden area with a drink. We would return to this hotel and recommend it to others.
