Excellent except for spectators were allowed to smoke inside the stadium. At times I couldnt see the game for the plumes of smoke rising in the air. At one stage I could see a player taking a corner waving away the smoke before taking his corner.
Super huge stadium. Not a football fan but went there because my husband is a football fanatic. Super fun! Worth the price & it was a great feeling being in the stadium itself. U've got to experience it yourself.
Well, u never know when they lose, but it happened when we were there (against Girona). The fans are crap, since they don't support their team when they need it (just start nagging, booing and whistling). They are spoiled and that is sad, because the players are remarkable (and no teams wins everything...) and the stadium is fab. I think Atletico is more fun to go and look at as a neutral supporter.
It is worth paying the tour (guided or just with the €5 audio guide), just make sure you have at least 90 minutes to enjoy the visit. Check that there are not major events the day you are coming because the access might be restricted. I recommend Thursdays. The tour is pricey but you have access to every part of the stadium you might want to see, and time is not limited.
Buy tickets online big going to a match arrive early to go through all the security. Be prepared for people smoking in the crowds while watching the match. We bought tickets outside but undercover and they put the heaters on during the match so toasty warm.
