Was hiking the West Highland Way and this was a great room after completing the hike. Room was a lot nicer than I expected. Location is 1.5km short of the end of the trail, but didn't turn out to feel that far at all. Was easy walk back after celebrations in town and picking stuff up at the Tesco Express.

There was cold at the room and the radiator didn't work but the accommodation exceeded my expectations by bringing us a portable radiator and the room was pleasantly warm afterwards. Thank you so much for that! The staff is kind and the breakfast was tasty. Good location of the hotel.

Try walking the Glen to steall waterfall .

Try walking the Glen to steall waterfall . Take yiur time and wear sensible footwear. It is not for the faint hearted or infirm or buggies or prams . There're steep parts and very uneven rocks . But with patience and care it is easily done. It opens up to the most gorgeous scenic valley which takes your breathe away everytime I see it. There you will see 1st glimpse of waterfall and to access it you have to walk across a single wire rope with 2 ropes to hold either side of you. I thought I would never be able to do it . However in my 50s and after visiting it for nearly 18 years I finally conquered it . Take water and snacks with you . Waterproof clothing and let people know where you are going. You will most likely meet others on yiur walk.

The walk to Steall Falls is great - woodlands, gorge, meadows, falls - go early to avoid crowds and do you can secure a parking spot. You need to drive right to the end of the Glen Nevis road - it is single track most of the way.

Fort William is at the cross roads of the West Central...

Fort William is at the cross roads of the West Central Highlands and worth a couple of day stop. We contacted a local tour guide and spent the day in the three glen's. He timed the visit to Glenfinnian for the "Harry Potter" railroad viaduct so photos could be taken of the train on the viaduct. Afterward the Bonney Prince Charley monument across the highway. Glen Nevis is a narrower valley and more photogenic. Glencoe is more broad and harder to photograph to get a view of the valley in one picture. It is the home to the infamous treachery of one clan against another. Finally ride the Jacobite train.

Carole & Andy are the most lovely people, running the most lovely place! Do let them give you all their tips for exploring the area. The room was lovely and cozy and breakfast was delicious :) Balcarres is situated right outside the centre of Fort William, so Ben Nevis, Glen Nevis, Glencoe, the Three Sisters... are all at your feet.

We loved Hillview Hideaway! It’s is an extremely clean and comfortable room, tucked away in the back of a home. There’s a private parking place, garden and entrance, so you can go in and out without disturbing the owners. The kitchenette is also a bonus, it’s got everything you need: coffee, thea, cutlery, a microwave, etc. The location is perfect if you want to visit Glen Nevis (definitely go for the hike to the Steall Waterfall!) or take/watch the Jacobite Train.

Very peaceful location, with veranda over looking woodland, easy walk to the North Face car park for Ben Nevis, and only short drive to shops and all the walks around Glen Nevis. The chalet was well heated and we were left with a generous basket full of logs for the wood burner.

Great facilities, especially kitchen. Spotless place to stay and very easy to access and leave the property, def stay here even if you’re on your own like I was it’s worth it. Also was able to drop bags off early which meant I could hike Glen Nevis which I wasn’t going to originally, which I really appreciated. Just don’t be stupid like me and take the key with you as they couldn’t get in to clean it before my stay 🤣. The owner was friendly and very understanding still and I couldn’t recommend this place enough.

Great view over the hills from the room window. Nice breakfast (the favourite part of the hotel stay form my 10 yo daughter). Conveniently located. Possible to walk to the town centre (although along a busy road). There is a walking path not too far, which would take you to Glen Nevis. Also a walk up / around Cow Hill. It was our 2nd stay at the hotel (the 1st time we were with our little dog as well). Staff are always helpful and friendly. We will gladly be back.

The lodge was in a beautiful position at the foot of Ben Nevis and 3 mins drive into the centre of Fort William. The property was spotlessly clean and had everything needed for a fabulous stay. I would highly recommend Glen Nevis Holidays and will definitely stay there again when we return to the Highlands next year.

The property is in a very good location, walkable to the town and plenty of nice walks towards Glen Nevis. There is a retaurant a few metres down the road also. Private parking was a bonus. Lyn was very helpful as I needed to change my dates last minute.

Apartment was spacious (we had the 4-bedroom apartment which could sleep 7). Kitchen was reasonably well-equipped though the knifes were not sharp. Having a dishwasher and a washing machine were godsends. Love the area - at the foot of Glen Nevis - so lovely just to walk out of the apartment.
