The opportunity to stay at Ballinalacken is a gift. From the front gate onwards is a memory in the making. The ambience is wonderful - the building, decor, furnishings through to the gardens. The bedroom was a treasure - quality throughout. The castle tour is a phenomenal opportunity - the icing on the cake so to speak.

The breakfast had a fantastic selection, from Full Irish breakfast to a choice of vegetarian or vegan items per plate. Parking was right outside the hotel. The location was fabulous and within walking distance of the Cliffs of Moher. Staff wonderfully friendly, hotel new and clean, great pub restaurant with live music most nights. Hotel was new, clean and nice smelling. There were warm gas fireplaces to sitt by downstairs. Would return to this hotel and area for hiking in the future.

Very nice place to stay with a cosy bar with live music when we were there. Everything was clean and the breakfast was delicious. Staff was very helpful as well in giving advice on public transport and tips for our walking.

Skip the Cliffs of Moher.

Skip the Cliffs of Moher. It used to be an amazing sight, majestic even. Now they built this horrible wall that completely limits the view and ruins the experience. Very disappointed!! Wish I had skipped out entirely.

So worth it!

So worth it! You do have to walk about 125 steps down which means you’ll need to walk those steps back up, so take your time. There are a couple of smaller tunnels that you have to walk through where you can’t fully stand up.

Not for the unfit or if you get claustrophobic.

Not for the unfit or if you get claustrophobic. I'm only 5'3" and I still bumped my head in the tunnels. Good thing they make you wear a hard hat. But it was so worth it to see the stalagmite at the bottom of the 125 stairs! The story of its discovery is fascinating.

Very cool caves to go through and very glad we got to...

Very cool caves to go through and very glad we got to experience the stalactite. We were in awe. The guide was extremely knowledgeable and helpful, willing to answer all questions with great explanation. Very glad we came for a tour. There is a cafe onsite, very helpful staff with many tips about the Burren and local driving routes. Also two adorable little goats that enjoy sitting atop the roof to graze!

Excellent location walking distance to Pubs and restaurants in Doolin, as as the ferry to Aran Islands, Cliffs of Moher and the Doolin Caves . Amazing view of the cliff from our room! Easy to find, they were very flexible with our checkin when our flights were delayed and answered immediatley making this part of our delay stress free and easy to manage. Beds were comfortable, room was large and property is pristinely well kept, clean and lots of free parking at the property.

Was a beautiful location, the room was excellent with all the amenities you need, breakfast was great with a varied selection on cold or cooked or both. Maria was attentive and on top of things. Location was perfect for the Doolin caves and the cliffs of Moher. Several choices in walking distance for supper and a bit longer if wanted to walk to the pier.

Very serene, comfortable and near to Cliff of Moher, Doolin cave and also Moher petting zoo which my daughter and I had a great time looking at the anomals. The property owner were senior citizens which was very friendly and made us felt welcome.

The hostel was very quaint and authentic - the rooms were extremely compact, but with very comfy beds. There was a wonderful cosy fireplace to sit beside in the afternoon and evenings and board games available to play. The location was absolutely ideal for a short stay in the West of Ireland - a few minutes walk into the charming village of Doolin and only a short drive away from Doolin Cave and the Cliffs of Moher.
