Had multiple rude encounters with the staff. They were rude to me in English and to my friend in Korean. It ruined the feeling of our whole outing. I don't care to return. My tip is to be more kind to guests.
It was a good experience. Don't miss the marching of guard changing on 10 a.m and 2 p.m held everyday at the front gate. The whole layout of the entire palace ground was really huge, we didn't explore all of them. It was a bit disappointing that you can't really enter the building of the palace itself. You could only look around it outside of the room. It was also quite tiring cause the ground space was really huge compared to the buildings, so the time to move from one place to another is more than actually seeing the buildings themselve.
I hope you don't go there without any korean traditional dresses. There are many Korean traditional dress(한복) rental shops around Gyeongbokgung(경복궁) and if you wear it and go there you don't have to pay for the entrance fee which is about 3000KRW though. I found it this imformation on facebook. You can enjoy taking pictures in Korean dress with Korean traditional architectures even more! I really recommend you to visit there especially if it's your first visit.
My king room was a good size (I stayed two weeks earlier in a deluxe double room that was nice too), with a sofa sitting area, desk and chair, sparkling bathroom area, great shower, very comfortable bed, conveniently located--a very short walk to the City Hall metro stop, a couple of miles to walk to Gyeongbokgung Palace or to Namsam Tower (or you can take the metro). Easy walking to coffee shops, breakfast places (two Paris Baguettes!), a number of take-out and eat-in restaurants on the two main streets nearby.

I stayed 2 nights a Oh My Guesthouse and the owners (Kim and her husband) are very gracious and friendly hosts. Kim helped me plan daily activities for both days, and gave me detailed information about the house and its features. Breakfast was a simple but effective affair, with toast, tomatoes, eggs and coffee/tea. The location in Sejong village is excellent, and just a 10 min walk to the Gyeongbokgung palace. There is good bus and metro connectivity as well.
Great location - metro is 5 minus of walk away from the hotel and so is Gyeongbokgung Palace. Room was very clean, comfortable and spacious. Everything matched the description and pictures on the website. Staff was extremely helpful and kind, we received all the help we needed. The price for this quality is more than reasonable. Highly recommend!
Excellent location/surroundings..walking distance to Gyeongbokgung Palace. KEA shuttle bus stop in front of the hotel every hour. There’s a convenient store 24 hours inside the hotel. Money exchange in front desk. Free breakfast everyday.
Jongno-Gu, Seoul
The location could not be better. It is right by Gyeongbokgung palace and walking distance to Changdeokgung palace. Also the surronding neighborhoods, Bukcon Hanok Village, Insadong and Tongin are very enjoyable to stroll.
A great place to stay in the heart of Seoul! We saw the Kind Sejong the Great Statue from our room and getting to major attractions like Gyeongbokgung Palace is easy on foot.
