The best place I can imagine. Location was perfect next to the train station and to the lovely park. A very Quiet area and walking distance to everything you need to see in Istanbul. The family is fun and very friendly. They offered to carry my bags to the station at 7 in the morning and paid for my trip to the airport.

Topkapi Palace

The home of Ottoman sultans for hundreds of years, Topkapi Palace is part of Istanbul’s UNESCO World Heritage Site. Dating back to 1459, this sprawling royal residence once covered a huge stretch of the shore – and even had its own hospital, mint and mosques within the walls. Now a museum, it displays some of the most important artefacts of the Muslim world.

As a traveler, I found this place very attractive and enjoyable to visit. The atmosphere is pleasant and well suited for people who like exploring city locations and popular spots. It is easy to access and fits well into a city sightseeing plan. The area feels lively, interesting, and well organized, making it a good stop while visiting the city. My name is NIMAX, and as a tourist from France and Iran who travels around the world, I appreciate places like this that offer a positive and smooth visiting experience. Overall, it is a good place to visit and worth recommending to other travelers.

Don't take a guided tour for Topkapi Palace because you will be rushed through and can't take the time to savour all the delights. There are English signs that explain areas and you can also download an audio guide if you wish. Make sure to visit the Harem. Don't miss the kitchens on the side. We took four hours to really enjoy this palace.

Ensure that you schedule enough time to visit. The recommended time is not enough to spend time with everything. Ensure that you include Harem as part of your tour. An absolute must see to appreciate the rest of the tour

i know the country is struggling and that they also have to do what they can to reduce the hordes tramping through Topkapi, but you have to be on the level of the British Museum or the Louvre with a once-in-a-lifetime traveling exhibit to justify these kinds of prices. I'm very interested in Turkish history as well as an archaeology buff and it didn't merit the investment. i think they should cut the price in half, offer a steep discount for seniors, and cut off ticket sales at a certain volume each hour. 1,700 lira per person, payable in cash or card (debit/credit) in TL, Euros, or USD. The free audio guide requires you leave your passport as deposit (not $), so be sure to bring yours. There is only one place inside that require women to wear a shawl and they have freebies you can use at the entrance to those rooms. The harem is included in this price, NO need to pay an extra 600 TL. Budget at least a good couple hours just to tour the place.

The position of the hotel is perfect, 10 minutes close to all the main attractions such as Ayasofya Mosque, the Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace and the Basilica Cistern. The room was very clean and the breakfast is nice (you cannot chose between options, they serve Turkish breakfast with cheese, olives, eggs, bread, cake/cookies and you can choose what to drink). The hotel has a private parking right in front of its entrance, so no need to walk around with suitcases.

We had a wonderful stay at Wings Hotel Karaköy and couldn’t recommend it highly enough. The location is fantastic — close to the waterfront, great restaurants and rooftop bars, and walking distance of landmarks like Galata Tower, the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia and Topkapi Palace. The room was spacious, spotlessly clean and very comfortable, while the rooftop restaurant has incredible views over Istanbul and is a real highlight. Most of all, the staff were exceptional. Everyone was so friendly, welcoming and attentive!

Best location and had a lovely time I found the area of the hotel a prime tourist hotspot of Sultan Ahmet and 5 minutes walking distance to Blue Mosque, 10 mins to Topkapi Palace relics and 5 mins to the beach. Regular shops and restaurants are also nearby with a lot of the transport. The hotel has been very kind and helpful when needed and I would certainly recommend as I also feel that the price was good value.

The location of the hotel is so convenient! The hotel is located on an amazing stretch of great restaurants! Such good Turkish breakfast around and dinner spots just on your door step. It was close to a tram station (5min walk) and majority of the large major attractions (Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque and Topkapi Palace) was within walking distance.

The place was just perfect. So close to everything, Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace 10 minutes away. The room was big, clean with a big bathroom. The breakfast was served on the rooftop with beautiful views and perfect hot/cold breakfast. The staff (the owner and his sons) were absolutely helpful, kind offered programs/taxis etc. I had to change hotel first unfortunately, after I found this hotel on booking. It was 10 from 10 I can offer this place with good heart.

Hotel was beautiful (old skool designs). Right next to the famous blue mosque, 250 yards or less. Absolutely clean bedding & towels. Staff were very helpful with all info, such as, wifi password, breakfast & Rooftop terrace which is open 24 hours and has direct views of the blue mosque, which is a beauty to look at nighttime. Also has air-conditioning and everything is near by; walking distance. Blue mosque, grand bazaar, hagia sophia mosque, Topkapı Palace & ottomans burial tomb. ✨✅🙏

What guests said about Topkapi Palace:

Walk everywhere possible.

Walk everywhere possible. Visit Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, Basilica cisterns and Topkapi Palace but go as early as possible as they get very crowded. For a trip on the Bosporus get the public ferry from under the Galata bridge to the last stop and go up to the castle and then get last ferry back to Istanbul. The first ferry is at 10.35 and the ferry back is at 3ish. It is very reasonable but there is no commentary but we thought it was excellent but be early to get a good view and position on top deck. We found the best restaurant to be Amedros. We went two times and the food is excellent and good value and the staff friendly attentive.

If you go to Topkapi Palace it is worth paying for a guided tour in order to appreciate it. Audio guides are available but in my experience these are often disappointing. The rooms are often empty and there is limited information to read. A guide brings the place to life.
