Classy hotel in a great location to explore the city. Staff were exceptional and ensured a genuinely warm welcome especially the check in staff and the concierge who all went above and beyond to ensure you felt like a guest and not just a visitor. Rooms were spacious, comfortable and well appointed and the public areas were a pleasure to spend time in.

Loved everything about it! I did a lot of research into where to stay, as only a young couple that gets nervous in bad areas!! Felt safe here all the time!! The facilities were great. We only did 2 nights & would of happily stayed 4-7 nights! Small rooms but expected that in the city! Location was perfect

The Grand Hyatt at Union Square is a wonderful hotel that I hope to return to soon. Have stayed at several hotels in the same area in the past and in different price ranges, but the Grand Hyatt is my favorite. The hotel seems to be well run in every way, the staff are pleasant, the bellboy/doorman service is impeccable. In addition, the level of cleaning is, for once, very good. Both the rooms and the hotel area are otherwise characterized by good order and cleanliness. If you want to live near Union Square, it is not possible to find a more perfect location. Very nice rooms of a good size. Tip: ask for a room as high up on the floors as possible with a view out onto Union Square.

the mall had maybe two shops and all the others had closed down, was quite disappointing. there are still a few shops in and around union square, but few and far between. didn't have the cool vibe it used to have. quite a few people high on drugs or sleeping in the streets - no issues, but definitely has a bit of an edge to it.

Sadly Union Squares gone so downhill, tbh it couldn't get much worse. So many empty shops. This wasn't for first trip to San Francisco, regrettably it will be our last. The change in the last six years is massive. We didn't feel particularly safe there, which wasn't helped by all the signs warning you. Our first night there must have been 100-150 motorbikes and Quads all racing down the Main Street, with loads of the bikes pulling wheelies, this wasn't an official organised event simply a load of bikers took it upon themselves. There was one police car with its lights flashing but nobody taking an ounce of notice.

Close to a lot of nice cafes and shops.

Close to a lot of nice cafes and shops. The staff in the subway are pretty touchy, and you have to get the clipper card to use public transport. The area going away from the wharf is quite seedy, like an open-air opium den with drug users injecting in public. Some of the cafes included taxes of ~$30USD, bringing out breakfast for 2 to $85. Better to ask ahead. Expensive place overall.

Close to Union Square. Easy walk Hotel was able to store our luggage from 10am. Rooms available after 3pm. Owing to flight change (from 6am Sunday to 11.30pm Saturday) we left at 7.30pm and didn't stay overnight as planned. We were able to shower and have a quick nap prior to leaving for a 15hr flight home so happy with what we got/used at the hotel.

Spacious, comfortable apartment. Very comfortable, large beds. Clean, with good maid service every day. The complimentary continental breakfast every morning - 07:00 -10:00 - and the complimentary wine and cheese every evening - 16:30-18:00 - were a lovely surprise. Beautiful 'old style' hotel. Friendly staff too. The hotel location, about a 10 min walk from Union Square, meant it was centrally located and close to transport links.
