This was such an unforgettable experience. We were supposed to stay for just one night but ended up staying 4! Okay, from the beginning. We had different accommodation in Hakuba, but we weren’t satisfied so we were looking for something else and found Dark Horse by chance. The moment we walked into the house, we were greeted with smiles and warmth. Andy, Rika, Momo and Hana create something truly special. We’ve stayed at hundreds of hotels and such, but this one will stay in our hearts for a long time. Everything is well thought out, you can see it’s taken care of down to the smallest detail, you can see it’s done properly and not just to be the cheapest. We felt so beautifully hosted. They also have an amazing sake collection to try, and the food is delicious too. Thank you again and we already miss it. I hope we’ll get the chance to meet again. PS. This 4-star hotel offers a ski pass sales point and free shuttle service. The hotel features a hot spring bath and luggage storage space. The hotel location is quite nice. 1.7 km to Hakuba station, one Lawson nearby. The hotel staff are very friendly and welcoming plus they responded very promptly whenever we have any needs via chat. Lastly, the shuttle provided by the hotel was unforgettable that brought us to the restaurants and the parks. I wish I could come back again during the snow season.

The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The food was amazing. The shuttle service was very helpful for coming and going from the train station and to various activities. The onsen was clean and relaxing. There was laundry available for use. Games outdoors and indoors. Just amazing.

Featuring free private parking, the 2-star ryokan is 7.9 km from Tsugaike Kogen Ski Area. The accommodation features a hot spring bath, free WiFi throughout the property and family rooms. I stayed for three nights. Not good but wonderful breakfast with mother taste and full hospitality!

There is a restaurant, bar, lounge and drinks vending machine on site. A washing machine and dryer are provided for guest's convenience. After a long day of excursion, guests can unwind in the 24-hour hot springs bath at Hotel Sejour Mint in Hakuba. Property staff can advise guests on renting discounted ski gear nearby. The hotel is a non-smoking property. This is the most warm and welcoming place I have ever been. The owner is so kind and a wonderful host. His staff are cheerful, and engaging. It felt like staying at a fond family members home. We loved talking with other guests over the delicious breakfast each morning. You can walk to Goryu Ski lifts and multiple restaurants within minutes. We hope to come back again!

The Happo Kan is a 5-minute drive from Hakuba Iwatake Ski Area, and a 10-minute drive from Hakuba Goryu Ski Resort. It’s a 5-minute drive from the La Foret Hakuba Art Museum, as well as from Hakuba Train Station. The Hakuba Happo Onsen hot springs are a 10-minute drive. The location of hotel is awesome which is near Happo Bus Terminal, some restaurants and two ski equipment rental stores. The Hotel and room are clean and cozy. There is a comfortable onsen within hotel that you can relax after ski. The staff are friendly and helpful. Highly recommended Happo Kan!

Offering a shared lounge and mountain view, Hakuba Glad Inn Ebisuya is set in Hakuba, 8.1 km from Tsugaike Kogen Ski Area and 44 km from Nagano Station. This 2-star guest house offers ski storage space and a lift. Offering free WiFi throughout the property, the non-smoking guest house has a hot spring bath. We loved every bit of our stay. Traditional Japanese tatami rooms with an amazing breakfast and dinner. Minutes walk to the slopes, restaurants, and bars. The family that ran the place was more than helpful in every way from sending our gear with Yamato, making restaurant reservations, and so friendly. Had private onsen for guests only. Had it to myself most of the time. Breakfast and dinner was the best meal we had all 5 days we were there. Everywhere in town, you needed reservations. If you're looking for a traditional stay close to the slopes, this is the place for you. If you are looking for a party or modern beds, this isn't the place for you, but highly recommend immersing yourself in the traditions. Would definitely come back!!

A 10-minute drive from Hakuba Happo-One Winter Ski Resort, Pension Tomato offers spacious Western-style rooms with a loft area. Free WiFi is available at the entire property and guests can reserve a private open-air bath overlooking the forest. A free shuttle is available from JR Hakuba Train Station, which is a 5-minute drive away and must be reserved at time of booking. Forest views are available from the 2nd floor of the accommodation. Love it. Super friendly hosts who helped us a lot, offered to pick us up, take us to hire gear at echoland (with discount at affiliated store), take us to deliver our luggage and send us to the station upon checking out. Booked restaurants for us too since we didn't have a local phone number. Thank you so much! Great accommodation, very cosy and nice atmosphere, vending machine inside, 2 onsen rooms (one of which has an outdoor onsen too, very nice in the snow) which can be used privately by booking each day. Drying room for ski gear is very convenient. Short walking distance (<5 min) to free local bus stop to goryu, happo, iwatake and also to echoland base camp for the hakuba valley shuttle. Buses only run a few each day and finish pretty early, best to not miss the last one as getting a taxi can be a pain! Breakfast needs to be booked by 10am from the previous day, but it's amazing, highly recommended.

Located just a 10-minute walk from Happo One Ski Resort, Hakuba Alpine Hotel features simple and clean rooms and outdoor hot spring baths. It is just a 5-minute drive from JR Hakuba Train Station. Free Wi-Fi is provided in the guest rooms and lobby area. The views from this hotel are incredible, and the smell of the mountains was very soothing. We loved Hakuba. The rooms were extremely comfortable, the staff was exceptional, the views were outstanding, and the hospitality unbeatable. They have an onsen on site. One of the aspects I enjoyed was the bookshelves located on the second floor. I liked looking through the books and enjoying a quiet time in Hakuba, The location of the hotel was convenient to anything you could possibly want within the city, and was a great spot for traveling to Happo-One and Togakushi. When we were leaving, the gentleman at the front desk gave us a Hakuba calendar. It made my eyes water!

Hakuba Tokyu Hotel is an 8-minute drive from JR Hakuba Station and a 3-minute drive from Happo-One Bus Terminal. A free 2-way shuttle to both destinations is provided upon prior reservation. The hotel features a public hot-spring bath, aroma therapy services and free parking. Free WiFi is available throughout the property. Enjoyed my first time in Hakuba experience.
