Traditional Japanese tatami rooms with an amazing breakfast and dinner. Minutes walk to the slopes, restaurants, and bars. The family that ran the place was more than helpful in every way from sending our gear with Yamato, making restaurant reservations, and so friendly. Had private onsen for guests only. Had it to myself most of the time. Breakfast and dinner was the best meal we had all 5 days we were there. Everywhere in town, you needed reservations. If you're looking for a traditional stay close to the slopes, this is the place for you. If you are looking for a party or modern beds, this isn't the place for you, but highly recommend immersing yourself in the traditions. Would definitely come back!!

Very tasty and freshly prepared breakfast, onsen (hot spring baths) free to use, super helpful stuff that even drove us around in the neighborhood when needed (also early in the morning). Location extremely close to skii facilities and starting points for beautiful hikes. Would definitely recommend or come back.
Nanjo was a wonderful host and made us feel most welcome. Nanjo was kind enough in his busy schedule to pick us up and drop us to bus stop. This was much appreciated. The outdoor onsen was a delightful treat after a day of skiing. Anise garden was very clean we would stay again. We loved our stay at Anise Garden, short walk to snow shuttle stop and to 7/11 for supplies. Thank you for your hospitality Nanjo.
Takao and his wife are incredible hosts. So friendly, always available, and always willing to help. The hotel is 30seconds walk from Main Street, is very clean and comfortable, has a fire in the lounge, and a beautiful private onsen for guests. Our family highly recommend this hotel.
It was very close to the main road and easy to find yet still serene and peaceful. The onsen facilities were great and both male and female outdoor onsens available so no need to alternate. The room was big and spacious and very clean. The staff were super helpful and accommodating.
Great ryokan! Nice breakfast and room condition, and especially onsen is the best. We were only guests in our stay, so they provide private onsen. It was very special experience.
The property is very clean and nice, though it is a little dated. We were not able to book a room with Mountain View but the views we got was still breathtaking. Parking is also free. The outdoor onsen and ice bath was wonderful, but there aren’t any private onsens if you are a couple.
The hosts were exceptional, in every aspect of our stay they were accommodating and made my partner and I feel like we were at home. Driving us to the slopes and picking us up each day. Cooking really nice breakfasts. A private Onsen which was great after a big day on the mountain. If you are looking for a unique blend between a tradition Japanese Ryokan & High End Cabin Hotel stay, this is the place for you.
