The staff - Uchida San and Nakamiya San - were both so kind and helpful. We had great conversations with both of them who didn’t shy away from giving us great recommendations about local spots to see and eat at! Their warmth and the homeliness of the Machiya itself was refreshing after staying in hotels at our previous cities. The place is clean, spacious and authentic with the furnishing and tatami floors. The onset within the machiya was the cherry on top. Overall the location of the machiya is within walking distance to the main Kanazawa station which was very convenient.

The dinner experience was the highlight of our Japan trip and I can only recommend it!

Boasting a 200-year history, Motoyu Ishiya features classic architecture, an original Noh stage and a garden. The staff, the room and the onsen were great. The food was amazing with delicious local produce.

I Nomi, 19 kilometer fra Kanazawa-slottet, ligger Matsusaki, som har en hage, gratis privat parkering, en fellesstue og en bar. Natalie was helping us greatly, explaining everything to us. Even how to eat each course of our very delicious meals (the food was extraordinary and varied!). She made sure to organize our stay and all needs, like getting us to the airport in the early morning. Thank you so much, Natalie! We could stay without worries and relax in your care. The bathing area, especially the roof baths, are relaxing and invite to lean back and enjoy hot water and a clear sky - or even the sun rise / sun set. After a soak, there are a water dispensor and massage chairs waiting outside. It's perfect. As a tourist, I was also delighted about the shop in the lobby, which offered local specialities at a reasonable price. We tried a few sweets and they were very delicious, so we got some more to bring home. We'll make sure to come back on our next trip to Japan!

The most beautiful accommodation I’ve ever stayed in anywhere ! Superb service and they were all so kind, warm and thoughtful. Staying here resetted my nervous system. The onsen is a luxury to experience in front of the beautiful scenaries of the mountains and river. Walking out in the morning seeing chicken will melt your heart

I Kaga, 32 kilometer fra Eiheiji-tempelet, ligger Araya Totoan, som har en terrasse, gratis privat parkering, en restaurant og massasje. A truly stunning, historical and special stay. The owner and team were so wonderful and looked after us beautifully. The suite itself was divine. Soaking in a cedar tub while looking at the forest floor is something we’ll never forget. The private dining room makes your stay feel even more exclusive. The food was truly out of this world. Our baby was catered for beautifully. We even had a large Moses basket in the dining room for her to rest. The area itself is very cool- there was an arts and crafts fair there when we stayed. There is a beautiful forest walk too. Can’t fault the stay and can’t wait to return one day.

Staff treated us like royalty. Food was top notch. Cute, walkable little mountain village with relocated Edo houses and nature trails. Amazing experience!

I was a bit nervous about staying since my Japanese isn't super great, but they had English speaking staff who helped us whenever it was needed. So there aren't any language barriers for English speakers. Wonderful place and service is great if you know what you're getting into.
