Cottonmill cottage end Oct 2021 The cottage is just after a bend on the A714 main road northbound out of Newton Stewart with bollards in the road just after the cottage so you cannot park directly outside to unload. There are bays over the road directly outside the opposite houses or you can drive round to the back of the cottage and either park on the road or into the top of the back garden through the double gates. This then means you have about 12 wooden steps to come down which can be slippery when wet. Enter via the back door after getting the key from the key safe by it. It’s an old cottage with some modern appliances in it. Easy to use central heating boiler, washing machine, fridge/freezer, induction hob, oven and microwave (there is a slow cooker but it was missing the fuse whilst we were there). Kitchen has plenty of space and a decent sized table for a family. Plenty of drawers & cupboards to store stuff away. All linen and towels are provided. The lounge has 2 sofas, wood fire, smart tv with Netflix and the WiFi router connected to reasonable speed broadband, a window out to the rear garden and another opposite to the main road (same in the kitchen). Also downstairs opposite the rear door is the shower room/sink & toilet all work well with the electric shower having decent pressure and spray head. Only spoilt by some black mould engrained in the sealant inside the shower and around the skirting board at the rear of the sink pedestal. The mirror above the sink is large enough to fit you head and shoulders in but could be better if a light was fitted as currently the only light is from the ceiling behind you, there are also some hooks on the door and a towel rail heated from the central heating. Up the old cottage creaking stairs to 2 bedrooms, 1 a double bed the other 2 singles. All comfortable mattresses but the singles do have creaking bed frames.

The staff was so friendly and attentive. Everyone I met in Newton Stewart felt like old friends. I would definitely stay there again if I have a chance!
