Great place to relax and to explore the vicinity of lake Bacalar. Service is good and friendly, breakfast included, the location is nice and safe, Cenote Azul is nearby, the city is 10 minutes away, but there are also many restaurants along the way. Apparently, not all cottages have bathrooms (ours did).

The location is right at the lake shore. The room was big and spacious, with a 'bigger then needed' bathroom, and a porch (ground floor balcony) which is the entrance to the room and it is facing the lake. This is somewhat a positive and a negative feature, since there is a great view to the lake, but also the whole room is directly exposed to be viewed by others. There is a great common area, a wooden dock with a hut, a semi-open bar/kitchen, an outside water cooler, a short pebbled entrance way that adds to the nice atmosphere to the hotel. It is really great that there are 4 kayaks that can be taken for free to explore the lake.

Mayan Playa is a small resort with just 4 cabanas for 2-4 people and good parking. Our cabana for two had a large bed, a desk with chair, a sofa and a bathroom with a sink, toilet and shower a d safe. Everything worked perfectly well. We got breakfast of biscuits and pieces of papaya and honey melon. The resort is directly at the waterfront, where you find deck chairs, SUPs and a double kajak. You can swim very easly. There is a bar which serves drinks and nice food from 12-17, we had very nice ceviche. It was a very nice stay at a nice place..

The apartment was beautiful, large, clean and well maintained with everything you needed to self cater. Air-conditioning worked well and the rooms were spacious and well furnished. We really liked that drinking water and ground coffee were provided. The pool area is fantastic with a large clean pool. The music drove us slightly mad when we arrived but the staff kindly turned it off so we could relax and read our books with just the jungle sounds. The hotel offers a washing service which ended up being cheaper and easier than the laundry service we had used in town previously. There is a small shop with basics and pool towels can be hired. They provide a great information card with some excellent restaurant recommendations, trips etc. Communication was really good before and during our stay. The hotel is calm and relaxing with a fantastic staff team on duty 24hr. We loved our stay here.

I spent more than 2 weeks in Mexico with my partner and friends and this was definitely the best accommodation. The rooms are very spacious and nicely designed. I really liked the garden and swimming pool area (very relaxing!). Casa Cactus Buenavista has a great location to explore places like Bacalar, Los Rapidos, Mahahual. Regarding food, the host can prepare it for you if you order in advance (it was so delicious!!!). You can also visit a local restaurant located few minutes on foot from Casa Cactus (there is also an option to have it delivered). Close to Casa Cactus there are also local shops with food, honey, souvenirs. Wifi signal was strong and available everywhere (not only in rooms). Jay and Sebastian are fantastic hosts. They took care of us so well. I felt like at home :) I truly recommend Casa Cactus Buenavista and will definitely go back when I am in Mexico again.

Great location if you want a quiet area. Fantastic recommendation for a restaurant nearby which we visited 3 times We borrowed the kayaks which are free and went for a paddle. The staff were all very friendly. Easy parking outside the door

The apartment was lovely and clean. The kitchen had everything you needed to cook basic breakfast etc. it was nice that cooking oil was also provided. The location is honestly such an easy and safe walk from Centro. We walk back in the dark and although quiet, it felt very safe. Host was so lovely, helped us with recommendations. The bathroom was nice and great hot water with a hairdryer. Air con in bedroom and big fan in living room.

Very modern and comfortable rooms, 2 nice pools with plenty of sunbeds in beautiful and lush gardens, leading down to 2 jetties on the lake. Very responsive communications via WhatsApp group with staff. Great concierge service to arrange tours. 30 min walk into town with many bars and restaurants.
