A wonderful and authentic stay in the mountains with local H’mong people. They were welcoming despite having limited English, and the Translate app worked well for everything we needed to communicate. The food was simple but healthy and delicious and I really appreciated being welcomed to their family table to eat with them. The bed is hard but I found it comfortable regardless, and the animals will wake you up naturally. I did the trekking and motorbiking tours and the scenery is beautiful. If you’re looking for a genuine Northern Vietnamese experience, this is it!

We absolutely loved it there! I mean, if you want to experience the warm-hearted people of North Vietnam, don‘t look any further. We arrived - after a horrible 7h "sleeper" bus - at half past two in the morning and were welcomed with open arms. Breakfast is amazing with a stunning view over the rice fields. The beds could be a bit softer, but you won’t complain after all day hiking around the stunning valley. Good food in the village is hard to find, so look for a pho place just when you enter the main part of town called "ẨM THỰC DÂN TỘC TÂY BẮC" (it‘s not on Google Maps). They only serve pho, but it‘s authentic and delicious. We could not have wished for more visiting this beautiful place. If you think about going north, skip Sapa, come to Mu Chang Chai and stay at Hoà Thào‘s!

The property has fantastic views. Postcard views of Mu Cang Chai. Highly recommend this homestay for the location. The rooms are basic with clean bed(hard bed), and clean bathroom. The room has beautiful views of the valley and rice fields. The food was also very basic. Bring your own groceries or inform the host what you would like to eat so he can procure it. We enjoyed our stay. The host is very warm, polite, friendly and honest person. The location of the homestay is on a top of mountain, the way to the homestay is a very steep, high gradient. A Car or Scooter both will struggle to get there, unless you have a very powerful vehicle. Call the host ahead of climbing the hill, he will guide you for a less steeper way. Our two wheel drive-car-was stuck and we had to call the host.

Everything about this place was wonderful! It’s off the beaten path and located in a beautiful area overlooking the mountains. The views are amazing. Ky and his family are the sweetest. He was one of the kindest hosts I have had during all my travels in Vietnam. He sincerely cares about you and goes the extra mile to make sure you are OK. He will book buses and tours for you and make sure you get where you need to go. I highly recommend doing one of the treks they offer. Ky was not available, but he arranged for his sister to take me. Even though she spoke limited English, she was absolutely wonderful and I had such a time with her. As with most rural homestays, if you are sensitive to noise, bring earplugs. But the rooms were comfortable and the food was delicious! Definitely a great place to stay if you are few days to relax and unwind.
