(One month and later I came back for 2 weeks) The rooms are big enough, it's possible to slide your suitcase under the bed and there are hooks to hang stuff. They are basically ready for any situation. Bigger groups and single guests. And if you are lucky you might end up alone in a clean room, in a comfy normal single or double bed for the price of a dorm! There is a clean kitchen area with 2 stoves, rice cooker, microwave and a small oven and enough pans, plates ect, to make nice dinners. All the rooms are provided with airconditioning and heater if needed. Next to that you are able to rent bicyles, surkskates and surfboards. Also Soku provides skate and surflessons. And the best are Emi en Soku themselves, they are so helpful alsways try to think from the perspective of the guests. In one word, like I said before, just amazing. If you are in this area I would definitly suggest to stay at this place. The location is a bit remote. Busses and trains just ride at certain times. It just needs some planning to get here. Also you can just contact Emi and Soku if you need some help with that. Supermarkets are a bit far. The closest konbini is 10 minutes by bike. But again Emi and Soku can give you a ride to the Supermarket sometimes and with planning your food a bit it's not a problem at all So it's not all around the corner, but instead you get a nice quiet experience in Aoshima, one of Japan's paradises.

Located in Hyuga and only 24 km from Totoro-kō, Guesthouse ＆ Beach Cafe Fuego provides accommodation with sea views, free WiFi and free private parking. It is set 42 km from Saitobaru Tomb and offers a shared kitchen. Very close to the beach, great if you want to surf. The family that runs it are incredible, super welcoming friendly and informative about the area. A great place to stay will hopefully return in the future. Big shout out to Yukie for being wonderful! We loved everything about our stay at The Little Garden. The common room is the perfect place to chill out, relax, cook and enjoy the coastline views. We even spotted monkeys! Yoshi and Hiromi were so kind and accommodating and made us feel extremely welcomed.

Opened in April 2014 after a thorough renovation, this ryokan features spacious guest rooms surrounded by tranquil mountains. It is a 7-minute walk to Takachiho Shrine and a 6-minute drive to Takachiho-kyo Gorge. Guests can use WiFi property-wide for free.

While staying at Kamigakure Ryokna, guests can stroll around the garden or purchase souvenir items at the on-site gift shop. Luggage storage and parking are offered for free. Kamigakure is a real treat to stay in and was one of the highlights of our holiday in Japan. The room is incredibly spacious, well equipped with everything you could possibly need. There were thoughtful touches throughout like local sweets each day and drinks in the fridge to keep you hydrated whilst using the private bath and sauna. Our room also had a projector and screen, which could be watched from bed and was a real treat when unwinding in the evening. The breakfast and dinner each day were exceptional using local fresh produce. I liked that there was a menu before eating, which told you everything you would receive during the meal. The portion sizes were also perfect for us. Not too much and not too little. Location to the gorge is perfect and was within walking distance (15-20 minutes) with Takachiho Shrine on the way. Also, recommend trying Marumoku Coffee in the village (check his opening times on Instagram first as they vary day to day). Would also recommend the karaage restaurant across the road from Takachiho Shrine. Both excellent. The staff were a real pleasure and asset to Kamigakure. Very welcoming and couldn't do more to help you have a comfortable stay. I would definitely stay here again and it has given me fond memories of my trip that I'll always remember. Could not recommend more.

The staff treated us like gold. They were especially considerate towards my girlfriends serious gluten allergy at dinner, and also my desire to not eat seafood.
