Definitely enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend.

The staff were really friendly and made us feel at home, the location was excellent and central, and the room was clean and comfortable. The snacks were a great touch after a long day of travel. We will definitely love to stay again in the future.

Well worth the effort to travel to experience a lovely ryokan, it's host and the town. I paid for dinner and I'm SO glad I did. It was a highlight of my stay and in deed a highlight of my 5 week trip in Japan. You sit in a sunken seating area and watch the ryokan owner/cook prepare what felt like a large number of individual dishes. The food was absolutely delicious. I was concerned about hearing other guests because, being an older house, the walls are thin - but the night I was there all the guests were respectfully quiet. I had a view over the "river" which may be a mis-nomer - but it is a peaceful stream running through the pretty street. I highly recommend a visit.

The neighbourhood was quiet and peaceful. The hosts were helpful, friendly and kind. Everything we needed was provided. We were picked up at the train station and were able to pick up supplies on the way to the home. We had a very relaxing stay even though it rained the entire time. The host took us site seeing on the way back to the station and shared knowledge about the area and history. We had a fun time!

Marumo Ryokan se află în localitatea Takashima din regiunea Shiga, la 46 km de Templul Sanzen-in. Marumo Ryokan is an authentic Japanese ryokan and is hands down the best we’ve ever stayed at. The rooms are beautiful and spacious, it is impeccably clean, and the meals are a delicious traditional feast. The hosts are very accommodating and thoughtful. We took the train to Omi-Iwazu and then rode back to Omi-Takashima, where we rented bikes to visit the Shirahige shrine. We also went to Makino to spend some time at the beach. Our entire group of five wished we had planned to stay for 2 or 3 nights instead of one. It was a wonderful retreat from the hustle and bustle of the rest of our trip and we would hands down all choose to stay there again!

Biwako Hanakaido features outdoor and indoor hot-spring baths, 3 dining options and rooms with a balcony and Lake Biwako views. It also has a garden and a sauna, while the lobby offers free WiFi. This ryokan is absolutely beautiful. The entire stay from check in to check out was exceptional. We went as a family with our 4yo and 8mo and they had all the facilities we needed including high chairs (a selection) for the kids as well as a kids menu, toy borrowing service and books. The public baths were beautiful. Make sure to try them all! We had the kaiseki dinner in a private room which was delicious and meant the kids being a little noisy didn't bother anyone. Our room overlooked Lake Biwa and it was very comfortable.

Biwako Ryokusuitei offers Japanese-style/Western rooms with Lake Biwako views, a flat-screen TV and free Wi-Fi. Dinner was amazing and the staff and service was so attentive. Anzono our waiter for our dinner service went above and beyond. When one of us had to leave dinner before dessert to make their massage appointment, he offered and prepared a plate of the full dessert on a tray to be taken to the room for enjoyment afterwards.
