Thambu Illam is a lovely, atmospheric colonial villa in a quiet area of Jaffna. Our double room was simple, but comfortable and there were plenty of areas outside the room - verandahs, garden, interior patio - to sit and relax. Even though the guesthouse doesn't have its own kitchen, the food we ordered through the guesthouse and which the staff served in an open pavillion by the swimming pool was delicious and authentically Sri Lankan. We'd also like to highlight the wonderful treatment we received from the helpful and attentive staff. Among other things, they arranged several tuk tuk rides for us with the incredible Prasath, as well as onward transport.

He knows how to treat guests like family. Starting from breakfast, we were given generous portions of authentic Jaffna cuisine which were truly delicious. The rooms were big, spacious and most importantly clean. AC, hot water was working very well. The location was a mere walking distance from Nallur kovil and could be considered an ideal location to base your Jaffna trip. All in all every one in our group enjoyed the stay and we would gladly recommend this location to anyone traveling to Jaffna.

The property is well maintained with lovely garden, the restaurant has fantastic dinner options, the breakfast buffet is plentiful, the suite is tastefully decorated, the personnel is very welcoming. Strongly recommended!

Beautiful big room with view of the pool. Very clean and luxurious bathroom. Really felt like a treat to be here. And on too of that the staff was extremely kind and friendly, they went above and beyond to care for my needs and safety. Food was also very traditional and tasty.
