This is the perfect getaway for peace and quiet. The hotel has preserved the traditional aspects of this old Cretan village. Every room has it's own individual style, which is lovely. There is a welcome drink and a tour offered at check-in. The room itself (we had the Hyades room) was very spacious with all amenities needed. I particularly enjoyed the bath products. Cute little swimming pool with yummie snacks and drinks and the best fries i have ever had. Staff is friendly and attentive. Breakfast options were good, a few traditional Cretan products as well. Good coffee.

Extremely peaceful setting. The property was immaculately clean and the host had made it homely with little touches here and there. We were welcomed by the host, Irini, who was friendly and warm. She had made sure we had the shopping essentials already in the fridge and also surprised us with pizza and beer upon our arrival. Upon leaving the property, Irini and family greeted us to say goodbye and were so kind and thoughtful-thank you, Irini and family. A truly special first holiday as a family of 3 (we have a 4 month old baby). It was perfect.

Evina was an exceptional host who made sure to attend to any needs. Throughout our stay, we were provided with fresh eggs, olive oil, fruit, coffee; wine and raki, amongst other things. We got married during our stay and returned to the villa the day after our wedding to find a bottle of fizz, a cake and rose petals which was a lovely surprise! The location of the villa was excellent as it was not too far from Rethymnon but far enough to be peaceful. There was an excellent supermarket not too far from the villa which Evina recommended on the day we arrived.

We stayed at the Elia in early May and were the only guests in the hotel, which meant the staff took really good care of us. Maria (young Maria - many of the local women are called Maria) made our visit to Crete. Maria was a brilliant host: really fun, interesting and very attentive. We ate breakfast and evening meals at the hotel. As it was early in the season the menu was slightly limited but the staff made up by preparing food they picked that day from the gardens and wild greens from the mountains. The food was excellent quality, fresh and plenty of it.... a refreshing change from the Chania tourist trap. The food and wine was also less than half the price of what they charged in Chania. The location for us was perfect: in the mountains 10 mins from Gerekari and also had a cracking walk to the Old Fort directly above the hotel. Meronas itself is beautiful and we spent a few hours just strolling around looking at the old houses and taking in the view. We also met the owner, Maria's great uncle who was an amazing gentleman and very knowledgeable about the local history. May is an excellent time to visit the mountains as the meadows are in full colour and the wildlife in abundance. Admittedly it is a little cool but this helped us with the walks in the mountains (we didn't even attempt a short stroll last August due to the heat). Tips: research the area first - the locals really appreciate when you show an interest. The Amari Valley is stunning and well worth driving around. The abandoned village of Gourgouthoi is worth a visit and a picnic up in the woods above the ruins (turn left just before the old church and follow the path jp into the wood. Also... ask the locals how to pronounce Gourgouthoi - only the older folk can pronounce it! Finally thank you Maria, you really are a fabulous person! Jim & Ashley!

Wow! We stumbled upon this place completely by chance. From the moment we arrived, we were enchanted by everything it had to offer—from the uniquely designed units to the luxurious private pool. Every facility in the room contributed to the most enjoyable and comfortable experience we could have asked for—from the shower, to the bathtub, and the bed. The location was also excellent, close to everything we were looking for in the Old City. What truly stood out was the level of service—professionalism, patience, and outstanding interpersonal care. They prepared a thoughtful and generous breakfast for our trip to the airport, and even treated us to a bottle of wine in the evening. Without a doubt, I highly recommend this place and would definitely love to return!

Casa Gaga is beautiful. The décor is contemporary and stylish, and I adored the little courtyard with the plunge pool. It felt like a Moroccan riad! The owner was very helpful and charming. Nothing was too much trouble. He gave great restaurant recommendations – I was just sorry my stay wasn't longer so I could have enjoyed them all! Its location in the Old Town is perfect. The bed was huge and super comfy. I loved my stay here.
