This is a wonderful location for a trip to the Tyrol. It is picturesque, especially if you avail of the summer cable car to the mountain. My first impression was negative. I thought I had arrived at a large building site. A lot of construction work was going on. But we got used to this as a necessary sign of progress.
Alpbach offers a Gorgeous Austrian landscape. You can hike in alpine meadows while being serenaded by tinkling of cowbells or take a gondola up the nearby Mt. & hike a steep trail from there to the top. When you reach the summit there is a cozy hut serving food , good beer & coffee. Be prepared because the weather changes rapidly.,but the view wasone to remember. There was also Tyrolean Accordion music & dancers at a nearby hotel which was open to everyone. And at the visitor center there is daily list of guided hikes as well as entertainment & other activities. Plan to stay a week & visit some of the natural attractions in nearby towns. You can also find good food in the restaurant. If you enjoy beer, you'll be in heaven .
We had a lovely time visiting Christmas markets and strolling round the beautiful city. The Tyrolean evening with family Gundolf was good fun too. The only issue was Easyjet who cancelled 2 flights on consecutive days which made getting home difficult.
Free ski bus takes you to all the lifts (which are all quite close anyway), great mix of ski runs to choose from (we’re a family of 4 with 2 children age 7 and 12), no queues, good night life, lots of independent cafes and restaurants to choose from, Tyrolean charm
We stayed near the Achensee Lake and it is one of the most beautiful lake I have ever seen in my life. In fact it the largest lake in Tyrol Austria. Very romantic & serene. Will love to visit again.
Access to Wildschoenau Ski-Juwel area perfect skiing and fab views. Good tyrolian food at Dorfer Wirt, calfs liver and Kiz reindl fantastic, don't take the suckling pig offer bit average.
Great small village with very modern cable car facilities to easily get up to the ski areas (Ahorn and Penken). Good selection of restaurants and plenty of apres skiing action. Cafe Piu Ciao, Gasser takeaway and Tyrol Steakhouse our favourites.
Gasthof Isserwirt is an incredible hotel with more than 700 year history with a very, very friendly staff! Amazing Tyrolean cuisine! Kaessespetzle, Tiramisu are really on the top, amongst the other very tasty food, served. Clean and renovated rooms. Really recommendable to stay. Full score 10.
The trip up on the Nordkette cable car is a must. The view on a clear day in the snow is incredible. The old town is small but within a short distance you can find a modern shopping centre. Had a quick tour of the Tyrolean museum which was interesting. Visit the apple strudel shop in the old town - delicious. The market hall near the river and adajacent to the old town is worth wondering round to see all the local produce. Train ride from Innsbruck up to Seefeld took just over 30 mins and cost under 5 euros.
A charming old town surrounded by mountainsgiving great access to all of the Tyrol and Italy. Well worth a stopover in both the winter and summer with a trip out to a nearby village such as Seefeld.

Astonishing value for money when you choose half-board which included ,in our case ,a superb 5 course dinner for a mere 24 euros extra for 2 people! Add to this the free excellent health centre with pool , sauna steam room etc and this hotel is a gem. The staff too were outstandingly friendly and efficient. We chose this for an overnight stay en route to Italy as it links with the motorway system ....next time we will stay for an extended holiday in this beautiful area of the Austrian Tyrol. A real find for us!

The hospitable mistress Susanna did everything for us-helped to determine us leisure time, told us how to get there, fed us with domestic delights. Besides it the magnificent view from the window, excellent breakfasts, the good cleaning, the well-equipped sauna, excellent ski storage, in the pizzeria at our hotel came all the tourists in the area. It was all for our holiday in Austrian Tyrol. Thanks to our hostess, we left happy and satisfied.

We visited Pfunds for skiing and really enjoyed the stay in specious rooms equipped with warm central heating and full kitchen and utensils. Although rent-a-car is essential, the cost performance of the apartment is the best we have had in Austria and Switzerland. There are many great ski resorts within 30 to 100 minutes drive distance. We will certainly choose the same in our next visit to Tyrol area.

Lovely family owned apartment in the Tyrolean Alps in the town of Ehrwald, Austria. Small apartment we booked had ample room for the two of us and a separate bedroom with a very comfortable king size bed. Family was very helpful with our needs and provided information on the area for our enjoyment. Great walking area in the high mountains.
