The location was perfect for a romantic and peaceful escape. The design and cleanliness was exceptional. There was a complimentary continental breakfast that was a nice touch. The bath tub was an absolute highlight. So incredibly spacious and beautiful! It was also only a short drive to local sights and restaurants. The sunsets and sunrises were incredible and the perfect spot to see them in all their glory! The wildlife didn’t come close to the villa like I would have hoped, but that’s out of anyone’s control and didn’t impact our stay in the slightest.

The reception staff greeted us warmly and professionally. The cabin was modern, compact, and exceptionally clean, equipped with everything we required, including an outdoor seating area and comfortable bed. The site was well organised and peaceful, offering a variety of amenities for children as well. Although our stay was short we managed to learn some of Ballarat’s colonial era heritage.

Parts of Bendigo are rather hilly.

Parts of Bendigo are rather hilly. If you have a walking problem (as I have) some places can be difficult to get to. By careful planning I was able to do most of my getting around by foot and avoid parking fees. (Their fees are not as steep as Melbourne but, nonetheless, add up.) There are quite a lot of good eateries in the town (although many are not particularly cheap). Many of the civic buildings are most impressive & reflect the wealth of the gold era.

Nothing I didn’t like really.

Nothing I didn’t like really. A very touristy, big country town, with lots to see and do, and a very rich history. All the supermarkets are close by. Plenty of eating places, however Google isn’t very accurate/updated, to some of the places, as there were quite a few that either were closed for good, or had odd open hours. However there is an array of different cuisines to be found there. Many things for the kids and families to do. Beautiful parks, Saturday markets, Ballarat wildlife park, the Eureka Centre, Botanical Gardens, lots of restaurants, Lake Wendouree is a great spot for families and the like.

A delightful country town .

A delightful country town . Stop in first at The Information Centre and find out all on offer. Many and varied shops, cafes , bakeries and pubs to walk to in town . The Mill is a treasure trove of old wares , great fun few hours checking all the treasures out. The Hepburn Springs Lavender farm is stunning ! A real gem . The lakes are beautiful .

A quiet area close to Melbourne.

A quiet area close to Melbourne. The Hepburn Springs Spa is the main attraction. We went on several days. The retreat package is very good with steam rooms, salt scrub, sauna and several different mineral pools and spas. Time is 90 minutes which is about right and we found we were completely relaxed and needed a nap afterwards.

Castlemaine has to be one of the most beautiful of country Victoria's towns. Rolling hills and greenery. Beautiful views everywhere. Historic buildings and homes. Great day and night life. And The Mill's Vintage Bizarre was wonderful. Went to two amazing art exhibitions. A very lovely three day break.

We were only in Kyneton overnight but walking the streets in...

We were only in Kyneton overnight but walking the streets in the early evening was a delight. The old buildings/architecture had us planning a return ( much longer) visit. For an early breakfast we wandered the streets and found a great ‘locals’ spot, Monsieur Pierre which was yummy and affordable. Both the town and surroundings deserve a few days exploring.

The town was really peaceful but nearly too dormant. You need a car. The public transport is very limited. We travelled by train and were happy to walk but had problems when needing to get a taxi or to the station. One very haphazard taxi service and No UBER.

A quaint town with some great eateries and plenty of activities for the lovers of nature and the outdoors. The MTB park is a big draw card, but could be advertised better, it is by far my favourite MTB park and I have visited a few.
