Situated in Bendigo, within a 5-minute walk of the city centre, Oval Motel provides rooms with air conditioning and central heating. Bendigo is a big city and therefore has lots on offer for visitors. A couple of the petrol stations were much cheaper than most and than Melbourne (at Feb 2021 prices)! Loved the Beechworth Bakery and would have liked to have eaten in. Loved the shopping, Myer is one store I target as I live in Traralgon, Victoria and there is no Myer close to me. Shopped at "TS" too as I love their stuff. Will spend a weekend next time so I can chill a bit longer. I bought some food at the Beechworth Bakery on my way out of town, also bought a drink at a pub near my motel (can't remember the name). Ate breakfast at a cafe near my motel which was reasonably priced which makes a nice change. It is easy to get around as I drove and used Google Maps to take me to whatever place I needed. It's a long drive from Melbourne but such as beautiful place I couldn't resist.
Bendigo is a gorgeous town - as with most Australian regional centres this experience in my opinion only be arrived at by extensively exploring them. All the hidden nooks and crannies that aren't necessarily immediately apparent, when the town can look quite unremarkable at first for the most part. It's only after you've explored its streets, old arcades and more impressive historic and natural features which are often mostly on the fringes of the city, not in their centre, the art gallery and arts precinct and closest suburbs. That is the case with Bendigo and if you explore and experience it thoroughly and in the right way you should find it to be charming and delightful in a lot of respects. Choice of place to stay is important too, I generally try to stay in a place with some character and/or history instead of some soulless hotel. Some of which can be quite staggeringly overpriced for such boring hotels.
We spent our only full day at Big Bendi Water Slide. Fantastic day. Had leave and returned from painting at Bendigo Pottery and seeing Pam making a glass turtle. My daughter, I & 2 grandchildren had a great day. We look forward to returning to do many other activities including the Historic Talking Tram.
I love Bendigo and enjoy its ambiance. The city has a good clean look and the tourist feel is one of fun and vibrancy. There is so much to see and do from the Historic sites to the Arts precinct. The clubs and pubs offer good to excellent food and there is much to see and do in the surrounding areas. We stayed at the All Seasons Resort which has many facilities, ate the the excellent Old Boundary hotel and the Resort itself. The Sunday Market was pretty good and we had a quick lunch at the RSL down the road from the market.
I live in a smaller city, so next to Melbourne, this and Ballarat are the next places for me to pick up things that I can't find around my area. Bendigo has everything I need. It's easy to get around in Bendigo by car.
We love Bendigo so much we plan to retire here. Great place for families. So much to do and see especially in the summer. Great holiday parks and accommodation for families. Only 2.5 hours from Melbourne in Central Victoria.
It’s conveniently located, great facilities, very clean and tidy rooms and well stocked rooms. I’ll definitely stay here again if I’m ever in Bendigo and will recommend to family and friends.
