Exceptional friendly crew! It's an old house but with a lot of charm and very well maintained including power outlets as needed and other thoughtful touches. Breakfast is not cheap but of excellent quality.

A wonderful small town with great historical links.
A wonderful small town with great historical links. A delightful Old Town and the Elbschiffahrt Museum was a brilliant small museum to visit. We could have spent longer there, but our itinerary was 'against' us.

I have loved Moelln ever since I was a child for its...
I have loved Moelln ever since I was a child for its beautiful location in the middle of several lakes and its lovely medieval feel. However, the recent upheaval with refurbishing the high street - which is still ongoing -has resulted in the closure of many of my favourite shops which are now empty shells. Also, the felling of the beautiful linden trees that shaded the sitting areas in Bauhof has made the middle of the town look bleak and sterile.

Very nice Apartment, Look the same as in the photos. 6 mins walking distance to 2 big supermarkets and Rossmann. 2 bathrooms 2 toilets, both bedrooms very enough space. Furniture all clean as new, from building door until apartment front door only a few stairs.

Central location for Lübeck and Schwerin as we visit, but there is much more.
I do recommend to read a bit beforehand before going about the history because it is interesting and not long time ago.
I did not, and that was a shortcoming for my holiday.
Actually astonishing what was happened short time ago, here at the border what was once East and West Germany.
You need to love nature, lakes also. Walking/ hiking. Water sport as well. Small villages, old cities.
And.
(East German, may I still say this?) East German hospitality, it's just different but not unwilling.
The hospitality is correct but do not expect a lot of smiles.

The outdoor heated swimming pool complex is a wonderful...
The outdoor heated swimming pool complex is a wonderful feature. It's only 1.50 Euros per person per hour, or 5 Euros for a full day. It has flumes and paddling pools, several other pools, diving boards, and is heated. In two weeks I was there four times and could have gone more often!
Geesthacht itself isn't particularly picturesque, but it has a large pedestrian area, with a good variety of shops including a sewing/knitting shop and a bookshop. We found it a pleasant place for a stroll.
The main supermarket, Rewe, is quite good, with a decent variety of everything you could need. There are a lot of places to eat outside, which was useful for us as we are covid-vulnerable.
It's very near the River Elbe, and you can hire bikes including ebikes from tourist information, although you may have to book in advance. Last time we were here we had a pleasant ride along the Elbe.
