Because of my work, I travel a lot and stay in many hotels, usually in the higher category. I chose Hotel Strandleben rather by chance for one night, as it was on my way north — and I have to say, I’ll remember the place and its atmosphere for a long time, and I’d love to come back. The whole hotel, its location, the interior, the cleanliness… everything is tasteful, practical, and comfortable. For me, a true gem — and autumn in Schleswig is simply magical.

We are French and we stayed twice at the Appartementhaus Schleiblick as a stop-and-go on a round trip to Sweden in august 2024. The location is very nice in front of a lake that is actually not a lake but a sea inlet that forms a sort of bay. It is very beautiful and quiet, rooted in the german country side. That is why on booking it says lake and sea view. It is actually one view of the same thing. BTW, the description on booking was spot on. The pictures and details given as description were 100% accurate. Consequently, you are not disappointed when you arrive and you do not feel let down by omissions or corners cut. The appartements are located in large houses just in front of the bay. Try to book and appartement with the "lake/sea"view because the view from bedroom and living room is very beautiful at dawn and sunset. They are also quieter because they face the lake whereas the "non view" ones may face the road on the other side of the houses. Personally we were lucky twice: we had appartement n°13 (familly suite) and n°11 (one room), both on the first and last foor of the house that has the best view on the lake in our opinion. That is the one just next to the entrance and to the small parking lot. It faces directly a little marina and a garden with a small beach, if you want to have a swim. In this particular house you also have appartement 12 facing the lake but on ground floor. This one also has a shared terrace just in front of its windows, with outside tables and barbecue which are shared with others hosts. There is also appartement n°10, on the first floor, but it faces the road on the other side, contrary to n°11 and 13. We also really appreciate the cleanliness and overall state of the appartement. Not new but quite as if. The furnitures, bathroom and kitchen equipment were also in perfect shape and totally operational. The bed were comfortable and quite firm, which we liked.

Hotel is self check in - don't forget to save the instructions. Staff comes somewhere between 7 and 10 am to make breakfast, other than that there is no one at reception - which was pretty fine for us) The place was really comfortable for a small hotel and I just loved the breakfasts)

I was traveling with my dog. When I entered a room, I saw a small treat for my Rudy and a place for him to sleep. I was very touched by this :) The breakfast was amazing :)

Little town, but I found a nice restaurant for the dinner: there are some different kind of restaurants, more cozy and some cheaper. Unfortunately I didn't have much time to see the sights of great history of the more than 1200 years old viking town. That I want to do next time.

I loved sitting on the terrace and looking out at the water. Other than that, I found the resort Olpenitz touristy and not very interesting, but it's very close to Kappeln, Maasholm, and Eckenförde.

I love Schleswig and have been here many times to visit...

I love Schleswig and have been here many times to visit family. It is not too big and not too small, with a lovely waterfront, beautiful cobblestone squares, the ancient fishing village of Holm, the historic Schloss Gottorf (castle), and - very near to where we are - the beautiful St Petri Dom, a huge old church whose spires overlook most of the city . Schleswig also has easy access to Kiel, Luebeck, and even Hamburg, by train.

Ich denke es ist wie bei vielen Orten,entweder man mag sie,man verliebt sich in all die wunderschönen Facetten dieser Stadt oder es passt überhaupt nicht.Persönlich habe ich schon vor dem Tag der Abreise alles vermisst und wünscht mir mehr Zeit an diesem wünderschönen Ort.Beim nächsten Mal würde ich mich mehr trauen,gleich die Menschen hier anzusprechen,um diese mit ihrer Stadt näher kennenzulernen und auf deren Empfehlung zu höhren,bezüglich des Vorschlags wegen dem Essen.
