The staff was friendly. The milieu was wonderful, room was elegant, even the photo boards and wallpapers on the walls was very stylish. The game room was a nice surprise, there were many different activities. At the breakfast was a lot of little things like ginger shots, fresh carrot sticks, lemon slices for tea drinkers, a local bakeries products.

I didn't expect to get a whole appartment to myself so that was lovely. I expected more of a hotel vibe which there wasn't. The "Hotel" seems to be mainly a location for a children's summer camp - but as I was visiting out of season it might be different at other times.

Well, what a perfect place. First of all, I was driving from Tampere heading towards te hotel and told them I could not get there at check in time. When I got there, the bedroom key was on the reception desk with my name, they saw me driving the car in and came to welcome me and it was already after 10 PM. The bedroom was alright, not that big, but very comfortable as the bathroom and shower. Nice and quiet place, away from city center in a peaceful atmosphere. Besides the lak, with to piers to go in and places to swim (as I was short on time, did not have time for it what I really regret). Breakfast was all right as well, with many options, fast and stable internet and lots of parking spots in the property and lovely and carefull staff. The cost benefit was PERFECT! Strongly recommend and I would be back EASILY someday for a dive on that lake.

The location was excellent......right beside the lake and harbour, and within easy walking distance of the town centre, fortress and swimming area. The hotel is a beautiful old and very quaint building. The room was really nice and bright, but not very big. The bed was extremely comfortable and the bathroom was lovely and well equipped. The breakfast was excellent.

We were made very welcome and the chalet conformed to the description. No bad surprises. The chalet was spacious, heated before our arrival and the fireplace allowed us to spend good times inside even though it was -25 outside. The sauna in the chalet was a real plus too. Very close to the lake, the snowshoe or Nordic ski trails, it is a perfect location which gives the feeling of being in the heart of nature while being in the immediate vicinity of a clear traffic route, which is not negligible in extreme cold. I think we will come back if the opportunity arises.

I have been visiting Joensuu since 2012.

I have been visiting Joensuu since 2012. In the winter season, the city looks very beautiful as it gets covered with a fantastic blanket of snow. The sight of the frozen river is just stunning! I love the city for its cozy and peaceful atmosphere and the kindness of the locals.

I generally know and like Lappeenranta - it is a nice town to stay in and to both work and enjoy. Located in the beautiful Finnish nature and at the coas of Saimaa lake. Moreover, the place is good as a base for journeys to the nearby attractions as well as e.g. for shopping.

Beautiful city, marketing is not working, should have more event advertising. Will not stay at the Spa Hotel Casino. Ate at the Muikkuterassi at the rooftop of Sokos hotel at the center market area . Also ate at Ravintola Majakka. Would recommend both places. Nice walking town.

The resort is well signposted and easily accessible from the main road. The shop and restaurant were good. A buffet breakfast was tasty and plentiful. The dinner menu was also good value for money. Beautiful location and plenty of walks/cycling ways from the front door. In the Summer months, there is big play park for children, with water slides, climbing frames, etc., in the adjacent holiday resort. This is one of the most beautiful areas of Finland.

Nice little corner of the lakeland area.

Nice little corner of the lakeland area. Great for nature walks and water activities. The whole area felt very peaceful and I hope we can come back another time. On the Saimaa geopark website you can find some nice walks and things to do in the area but if you like forests and lakes and quiet surroundings you’ll be good here no matter where you go.

Nice small town, with a surprisingly positive and live vibe, despite being located in the middle of nowhere. It has everything you need - supermarket, amazing café with some souvenirs and local products, very cozy guesthouse with a bistro to grab a beer, play pool, watch sports on a big screen or have a karaoke night. It also has a nice church, apoteke, children playground and well-maintained skiing tracks and ice rink in the winter.

A small town in East Finland that has some good restaurants...

A small town in East Finland that has some good restaurants and local coffee shops but there is not much to do. The town is not touristic and there are not that many places to visit. However, the Botanical gardens are interesting and the Joensuu church is also worth visiting.

In Lappeenranta, we particularly liked the harbor and the fortress. Otherwise, we mainly used the city as a starting point for trips and hikes along the shores of Lake Saimaa. Lappeenranta is ideally located for this. The environment is really beautiful.

Savonlinna is so beautiful town.

Savonlinna is so beautiful town. Mainly the castle and the museum are both worth a visit, also a walk around the wooded islands and the town, during which it is worth a visit and refreshments at Cafe Saima, very delicious food.
