It is a little town with just one attraction as the...
It is a little town with just one attraction as the Barbarosa fortress and the church next to it. And the greatest appeal is Pierre Richard winery 10 minutes away by car. But I absolutely fell in love with the town market, foods, wine and people. Real feeling of how perfect an ordinary town life can be, like a French film became the reality.

Le Barcarès is a lovely and pleasant town!
Le Barcarès is a lovely and pleasant town! We visited during the off-season, so it was quiet and peaceful, which we absolutely loved. There are plenty of local attractions and great spots for kids nearby. Plus, it's a very reasonable drive to the Safari. We would definitely love to come back again!

As senior citizens we liked the position of the Hotel on the sea front and the excellent promenade. We had beautiful sea views from our balcony and enjoyed eating in the Hotel restaurant which was very good.

The rooms are old and dated.
The rooms are old and dated. The aircon doesn’t work very well and the windows have locks on them. The room was hot and stuffy. The ibis rooms are accessed via the Novotel. Apart from the reception and dining area it all looks a bit shabby.

The village was stunning, the people we met were friendly and welcoming. We would definitely recommend Leucate, it has many bars and restaurants, beautiful quaint streets and is surrounded by stunning scenery. It was a perfect stop for us.

We had a wonderful family stay in Prades in July 2026.
We had a wonderful family stay in Prades in July 2026. The location was beautiful and peaceful, with stunning scenery all around. It was the perfect place to relax and spend quality time together. Everyone we met was friendly and welcoming, and we really enjoyed exploring the town and the surrounding area. We made some fantastic family memories and would happily return. Highly recommended!

A place out of time, an old village of fishermen with a lot of charme. The village has a concentric plant around the ruins of an old military tower, lying between swamps for salt extraction and the sea.

Leucate beach is simply wonderful.
Leucate beach is simply wonderful. For walking along or sunbathing on - if its not too windy.
As our apartments facilities were basic, we ate out each lunchtime and nightime.
There is usually one restaurant open in Leucate Plage or the village but just be mindful that the close promptly in June.
We found wonderful pizzas at Pizza Chez Jordan, in the Centre Commevial at Carrfour in Leucate Village. You can either do takeway or as we did eat in (well outside) with a glass of wine and a beer. Great value for money too!
