A visit to the old city is definitely worth while. Be prepared though for a steep climb if you are making your way up from the harbour. Take a Corsican beer or an ice cream on the main square right across from the church and observe the crowd. Do not miss to visit the "L'Orriu" which has an amazing selection of Corsican charcuterie and other local products. Some of the restaurants have terraces with splendid views across the bay. If you want to got to the beach Palombaggia is the place to go. It is nicely located under pine trees and is still a very "virgin" beach. We were in Porto-Vecchio off season. With the streets being very narrow and limited parking space availability it is likely that moving around the city in July / August may be somewhat of a challenge.
Cozy small town well situated along the west coast of Corsica. Recommended to have a car which allows for truly great excursions to many wonderful places along the coast; including beautiful sandy beaches and spectacular mountains.
Ajaccio has little to recommend it . The traffic is the worst I have seen in years and the parking possibilities are essentially non-existent. While the historic center is quite nice (without being especially striking), the rest of the city is comprised of ugly, concrete, Soviet-style apartment blocks, many under construction, which just adds to the terrible road conditions. The downtown shopping area is overrun with the thousands of 6-hour stay folks pouring off the 1-3 cruise ships that are in port each day. The Maison Bonaparte is very interesting but you need to get there right at opening time to avoid looooonnnnng lines. The impressively-sited citadel is a run-down and apparently abandoned former army facility surrounded by barbed wire, and full of litter and donkey poop. What a wasted opportunity for the city! The history museum - which might be interesting - was closed indefinitely. My recommendation - spend your time in the mountains and elsewhere in Corsica. If you have to be here, go out west to the Iles Sanguinaires - beautiful.
San Gavino di Carbini is ideally located in the Alta Rocca of Corsica. A beautiful village with a beautiful church with wonderful views of the surrounding area. The local population was very friendly towards us on our walks around the village. We very much enjoyed our stay here, and look forward to a return visit!
Corsica is expensive for everything. Car hire essential as no trains in South and buses pretty invisible. Beaches beautiful but out of reach without vehicle. Mountain villages including the famed Zonza were disappointing
Bastia is a charming coastal town in northern Corsica. We enjoyed stunning views, lovely rock beaches, warm hospitality, and delicious local products.
Not pretty despite the port/ beach location. No charm. No there there.... the old city was focused on tourism... shop after shop of beach clothing and Corsica souvenirs. Unremarkable cuisine.
Ajaccio and Bastia are the two biggest cities in Corsica. So it has a lot of history especially surrounding Napoleon. It's a good place to do a two night stop and then move on to other parts of Corsica. Chez Paulo was a good lunch stop near Napoleon's house. The little train is a good way to see Napoleons grotto.
We expected a charming hilltop town and beautiful views like most of Corsica. We found the area dry, unimpressive, with a tiny old town center and not much else. The drive to Restonica was beautiful but not really worth going to Corte. There are too many other beautiful places in Corsica!
I lived here for a time and recently went back to visit, and it is exactly the same: beautiful, intimate, wonderful. It has a quasi-city feel without the hassle of the city. It has beautiful mountain and water views, and there's always somewhere to go and something to do. Just a word of warning, summer is the best time to go; a lot of places shut down during the winter and Corsican weather in the winter can get cold and rainy.

There can be no other place to stay in L'Ile Rousse. Maybe not in all of Corsica. This place is exceptional. We got a flat that was fully equipped, from a kitchen to bathrobe and slippers, with a patio with view of the beach. The place is 20 steps from the beach, with a great hotel attached to the residence from which you can rent a lounge chair and beach umbrella. The sand is softer here than in any other beach in Corsica, and it's pleasant and quiet, not full of tourists.

Our first trip to Corsica and first hotel in Corsica. I can sum up our thoughts regarding Chez Charles with a quick story about check in. Our lovely staff person greeted me with a smile and when I asked did she require a credit card for check in she stated..."All we really need here is a guest with a smile" In today's day of skeptics and critics to receive a perfectly honest and inspiring check in response paved the way for our entire stay.

Like any outstanding place, what made my stay in Casa Rossa an amazing experience was were my expectations were exceeded. Hotel Casa Rossa was better than I anticipated in every category, but most importantly the staff was great and ensured I was taken care of to the best of their ability. They truly cared to make my stay as unique and memorable as possible. Do not hesitate to ask them for their personal recommendations on were to visit while in Corsica!!

Exceptional apartment with plenty of space for two couples. Everything is modern, clean and bright. The large enclosed private patio/garden area was very nice and we put it to good use. The beach is 200-300m away depending on what unit you are in. I'd rate it as the nicest beach we saw in Corsica in terms of calm/clean water, interesting rocks and coves to explore, amenities and watersports. Would not hesitate to come back to Costa Nera.

This was a great end to our trip in Corsica. Hotel is well located, not in Bastia but close enough and very close to the airport if you are flying out of Bastia. Staff were very helpful. We do not know the other rooms but we had a nice one with view to the garden and swimming pool. It was clean, well kept and comfortable. Restaurant food was excellent. It was a pleasure to be here, if we return to Bastia we will stay here!

Perfect vacation apartment for a family, self service. Sheets included, plus pots, pans, coffee maker... everything you need in the kitchen. We had a sunset view over the sea from our balcony. The host is fantastic and helpful. The air conditioning was terrific for escaping the mid-day heat. This place is a great value compared to other properties in Corsica. Parking is also included.

The staff was really helpful and welcoming. This was our last night in Corsica and we also had started our trip in this hotel. They had reserved a different room for us with a large bathroom and shower... It was lovely. The staff was happy to inquire about our trip through Corsica, without ever being nosy about anything. Great service !

Welcoming and helpful front desk staff, huge room, and great location close to restaurants and the airport. We chose the hotel for our last night because it was very close to the airport but it would also be a nice lower-cost alternative to the super expensive properties on Corsica. The air conditioning was strong and the wifi was fast.

Beautiful location. Lovely pool. Good selection of bars and restaurants within walking distance. Apartment quite well equiped but expect a trip to pick up washing up liquid, toilet rolls etc. We did Corsica on a budget and I'm glad I chose Cargese. The two local beaches are outstanding

This historic hotel is on one of the most beautiful streets of old Ajaccio. The staff made us feel like the nobility that were the original inhabitants. A daily Corsican buffet breakfast on the shaded patio completed our stay.
