Great place to visit.
Great place to visit. Loved the walk up to the faux Roman Ruin. Was catching the ferry to Colansay but would have liked time to visit more of the excellent eateries. Was able to buy a lovely silver ring from 'Scottish Island Jewellery' (23 Argyll Square) made in the shop by the man who sold it to me.Guest review byHannahUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Beautiful quiet location, stunning scenery.
Beautiful quiet location, stunning scenery. The Village Inn was great. Staff were super friendly and welcoming. Restaurant had good menu choices both for dinner and breakfast. We'd booked this for our last night in Scotland before our return flight, would have loved to stay longer.Guest review byJacquelineUnited Kingdom - 8.0

Beautiful place, local people very friendly and helpful, drivers need to pay more than usual attention when driving on single lane roads as there is quite a few obnoxious and arrogant drivers when approaching those “passing places”!Guest review byCristinaUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Inveraray Jail, was amazing to see what jail life was like n the 1600s Very first item we saw was a man who stole 2 horses, and a cheese he was hung for his crime, couldn't stop thinking about it all day.. Really need to see it for yourself to understand how bad life was back then. Inveraray Castle was beautiful and so interesting, had a lovely tea outside before looking round the gardens and walking through the grounds. Inveraray Bell Tower is fantastic too once you climb the 176 steps, you can see amazing views..Guest review byjanejackcarUnited Kingdom - 8.0

We arrived in Rothesay after crossing on the ferry from Wemyss Bay - the Victorian station there and second hand bookshop are worth having a look at. On Bute, we loved Scalpsie Bay and nearby walks. The exhibition on the sea front in Rothesay was interesting - and the Victorian toilets! St Blane's chapel was great too, and Rothesay castle - loved the passion of the staff! We had taken the car but there seemed to be plenty of buses to get around - also a great place for cycling. Pies from the independent butcher's were delicious, as was our lunch at Gather Deli. If we had had drier weather we would have spent more time on the beautiful beaches.Guest review byClaireUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Sweet and picturesque lakeside village.
Sweet and picturesque lakeside village. We did some beautiful walks- enjoyed boat ride around loch and spent a few hours on idyllic island in loch. A couple of small gift shops and a village store with fantastic cakes and essential supplies. A nice hotel and small restaurant/ cafe to eat in . We had a car and drive to other nearby lochs and had breathtaking drive up to glencoe and glen elive….. iconic James Bond sky-fall location. Will definitely come back.Guest review bytraceyUnited Kingdom - 10.0

There's not much in Tarbet, apart from the Hotel and a good restaurant, but its convenient for the Loch, and its on a junction of the main roads, so there's good access to other parts. There is a bus stop that the long distance bus services stop at. Loch boat trips depart from the pier. The Tarbet Hotel is a great place to stay. The Kirk 'o the Lochs is a good place to eat.Guest review byPeterUnited Kingdom
