TurkeyWe had a wonderful stay in this lovely home in Raches, Ikaria. The house was spotlessly clean and truly one of those rare places where you instantly feel at home. It was incredibly comfortable, and the thoughtful treats left for us were such a kind touch. Although you have to take a short dirt road to get there, it’s absolutely worth it for the stunning sunset views. Highly recommended!

GreeceGeorge met us and showed us around his historic, beautifully restored family property surrounded by forest. We loved exploring the village footpaths and churches. Nowhere to eat nearby so we cooked for ourselves and ate in the cool evening air with a view down the gorge to the sea.

United KingdomWe are currently staying in Karavostamo but fancied a change of scenery. I had holidayed in Greece for 21 of the 26 years together, but recently my partner died and I have found it difficult to settle this year.
The Mesaktis Rooms were exactly what I needed. A beautiful tranquil setting, our terrace looked down on to a small lagoon. The owners gave me and my friend homemade lemonade and the most delicious homegrown figs, which we consumed whilst overlooking the lagoon, which was home to over 30 turtles! We were given bread with which to feed them. What a sight to feast your eyes on while we drank our delicious lemonade!
The accommodation is rustic, it’s not luxurious, but it’s what we both loved about this place. There are tavernas beds are comfortable and the kitchen has everything you need to make a simple meal.
There are tavernas maybe 5 minutes walk away, a mini market next door, and over the road there is probably the best beach on Ikaria - Mesaktis beach. At the far end is a lagoon in which you can see even more turtles!
The hosts, as you may have picked up on, were so generous and warm. I miss the place, the kittens and Sadi the dog already.
This has been the standout experience so far of this 3 week Greek island hopping trip.
I absolutely loved it, and it helped me along in my grief journey.
To the owners: thank you for your hospitality, for letting me leave the car on your premises after we had checked out, and sorry for taking the room key!

Clean, newly renovated apartment in a beautiful, quiet location. Theodore, the host was very welcoming and helpful prior to and throughout our visit. We were surprised and delighted to be served breakfast on the verandah by the ‘cleaning lady’. Private beach and close to the airport. A perfect place for a relaxing holiday. Local village 5 minutes drive nearby was handy for restaurants and groceries. The Thermal pool was only a short drive away and the port town of Agios Kirykos was about 20 minutes away. Theodore couldn’t be a more thoughtful host.

Our two weeks were fantastic. Our apartment was super clean and the beds were very comfortable. We enjoyed the quietness of the complex and the balcony had a fabulous view. Haris and Cynthia were above and beyond any host we have encountered in our journeys. They provided us with information about Ikaria and places of interest and did everything they could to make our visit on the island memorable.

The apartment had a big bathroom amazing bed and incredible views. We cooked meals in the kitchen everyday and the washing machine was a bonus when travelling for 6 weeks. Stella was very friendly and helpful. This is a very hilly area so be prepared for some steep uphill walks.

Amazing little hotel with traditional touches yet modern, and without missing out on any facilities. Amazing friendly staff that helped us with everything that we needed. If we ever come back to Ikaria, we're definitely coming back to Erofili again!

Booked Peskesi last minute due to previous disaster...the studio was gorgeous ...very spacious, looks v new and a lovely breakfast that we weren't expecting. Walk to centre was a 10 min walk max. Quiet area. Would definitely recommend

The small port town of Agios Kirykos it's a nice,...
The small port town of Agios Kirykos it's a nice, picturesque place... It's got a little something for everyone and stays alive late in the night, even in extra season.
The short walk along the coast takes you to the village of Therma for a dip into the thermal waters - about 20 minutes, no luggage. It's a beautiful walking path!

Don't go to Ikeria for beaches and the archetypal tourist stuff because you will probably be disappointed. The feel of the island remains close to its roots - simple but great food presented to perfection, a history to enjoy, absorb and take away in one's mind's eye. The people exhibit the traits for which Greek island populations may be justifiably proud.

A small village at the northwestern part of the island. It's definitely nice for a couple of days but after that there's nothing much to do there. Good location though if you're planning to explore the inner part of the island and the Raches villages.

We loved our stay in Raches...the village was very friendly...excellent food at both restaurants...all the locals were very friendly...we had coffee in the square each morning...got bread from the baker straight out of the oven. There was plenty to do in the area...we visited a beautiful old church and also drove to the beach for a lovely afternoon

Fanari is 15 minutes from the main port of Agios Kirykos and has lovely beach called Faros with some charming tavernas and a cafe right on the beach . The views of the sea and neighbouring islands are lovely and the beach is calm and cool .

Traditional Greek environment. A few cute restraunts and cafes. Cute beaches and adorable little port great from snorkeling. There is a boat that takes you to Agia Kyrikos a few times per week and another for Seychelles beach daily.

Good starting point for visiting the south part and even the entire island. Very nice and friendly people accommodated all my needs for a short and adventurous experience on the island. Pristine nature, breathtaking views, nice beaches and warm mineral water springs!

Evdhilos is a nice small town.
Evdhilos is a nice small town. It offers some basic facilities: some restaurants, cafés and minimarkets. There are also several (4?) car rentals.
Being on an island with few inhabitants and not too much tourism, it of course does not have the same facilities as some other places.

The area is peaceful and tranquil. perfect if you just want to be away and enjoy some relaxation. There is a bus connection with the bigger area for the nightlife, the port for connections with Athens or with the Fourni islands and just for some food/leisure.
