EstoniaOh my, where to begin! Family-run Familia Hotel totally exceeded our expectations..
Initially we booked our stay for 2 nights, but we ended staying for an extra third night because we just did not want to move our base in Ithaka.
Shortly: we felt extremely welcomed from the first minute, had the best sleep during our 2 weeks Kefallonia + Ithaka trip in Familia Hotel + also the location is perfect, the breakfast very fresh and variable, all the staff are absolutely genuine, friendly and humble.
Our warmest recommendations and greetings to Familia Hotel, thank you SO much Chrtistina and Co!

She is like the sunshine when the sun doesn’t shine. Very much caring and always there, with great kindness and always helpful with humor and joy, with Information and a very good breakfast! The other lady (Elvira?) was also very kind and helpful! Such nice people in a wonderful hotel!

A bit far from the town "centre" with a steep climb to get from there to the apartment. We had a car so no problem Katarina was a friendly host who spent time chating to us about the area. The location is perfect for exploring Ithaka, very close to Vathi and the main road yet away from the noise. It is overlooking a beatiful small beach and the view from the terrace is absolutely stunning. You won't get tired of it. There is everything you may need for a comfortable stay. The apartment was spotlessly clean and cleaned every day. There is enough parking space in the yard. There are even some sunbeds on the beach for the guests of Forkis. We really wished we could stay longer.

The house that we stayed in at Tesoro of Ithaca was ideal for a family of 4. It had two bedrooms and bathrooms at different levels.
The property was very clean, towels and bedsheets were changed every two days and there was daily housekeeping.
Upon arrival we found ingredients for self-catered breakfast.
We were greeted by Panagiotis who was very polite and available during our stay. He provided very useful information on the beaches, restaurants and attractions of the island.

It was fantastic. The hotel is so luxurious and everything is made with a lot of taste… there are so many details to look at. Very very beautiful. And Mrs. Katharina is just extraordinary! An absolutely beautiful house, generously spacious. Big terrace with a wonderful view of the bay; a lovely pool at the back. So many aspects are viscerally pleasant, from the feel of the floor to the color of tiles (blue-green) in the bathroom. Fully equipped kitchen. Everything spotlessly clean. The apartment could fit six people comfortably (we were only three).

Everything was great! This is an amazing house, much nicer than on the photos, with great air conditioning, check in/out were very easy, owner was always available, view from the house is fantastic, two excellent beaches with sun beds are less than 10min car ride, there is an excellent (but pricey) restaurant reachable on foot in 7min.

Vathi is an unspoilt paradise with many beautiful places to see. The water and beaches are stunning. It is easy to take a boat around the island and also to explore other islands nearby. It is a calm and relaxing environment with plenty of adventures to be had.

Great location, away from congested major towns, fabulous swimming at Polis beach. Great sight seeing walks to the ruins of the Palace of Odysseus. Numerous tavernas at Stavros and the port of Frikes, either on foot or by car. Very relaxing place to stay.

Quite location around waterfront, that is closed to cars. Lovely little coves to swim in. Very poor bus service so car or taxi required to get around. Taxi fare from Vathy very reasonable at 45 euros.

This was a most excellent destination.
This was a most excellent destination. Bakery on hand as was a mini market. Lovely beach nearby with free shade.
Quaint tiny harbour to walk around in the evening.

A beautiful harbour and working town, it is a really friendly place with a large number of good restaurants. It wasn’t too busy when we visited in late September. The local beaches are clean with clear blue water. We particularly liked Filiatro beach about 10 minutes drive away which has beach beds for rent and a good taverna. There is plenty of shade underneath the olive trees.

Lovely local village.
Lovely local village. Very friendly people and some great tavernas to choose from. Margarita's is the best cafe! There is also a small museum. Easy drive from here to local beaches. Also 10/15 min drive to Frikes and Kioni.

Kioni is pittoresque and romantic. Nice restaurants and bars ! Lovely port for yachts.
Avra and Mythos were our favourite restaurants.
The 2 beaches at the end of Kioni are just so beautiful, one with a small taverna.

Frikes is an incredible little harbour - very friendly, great tavernas, beautiful beaches and a wonderful pier to jump off! We were one if few that didn't come on a yacht but we enjoyed it all the same! I'd return here in a heartbeat!!

I liked that Vathi is a real town as well as a tourist town.
I liked that Vathi is a real town as well as a tourist town. There are however lots of restaurants and coffee bars, many catering for the boating community, as this is a popular stopping place for people cruising round the Ionian on small to bigger boats.
Everywhere within Vathi is very walkable. I found it a bit restricted as a starting point for a solo traveller, as there are no buses, and the tours of historical/mythical sites are private and very expensive for one or two people.

Frikes is a lovely place, but as we were getting towards the end of the season, and what with all the restrictions caused by Covid, 2 or 3 nights could have been better, with a 2 or 3 night hop at the other end of the island perhaps?
Luckily, Aristotelis Apartments were so nice, it didn't matter, and we loved every minute of our stay.
There are 3 nice, very small pebbly coves/beaches between Frikes and Kuoni. The water was so crystal clear you can see the bottom for quite a depth. Snorkelling was real fun. Lots of different fish.
The little beaches each had a long stone built bench you could sit on. some of the bench would be partly shaded by trees. These beaches weren't serviced with showers, toilets or bars. But beautiful, with lovel views all the way to Lefkada and beyond.
