The hotel is rated as 3 stars but suggest it should be 4. The room was huge, clean, and had a kitchenette and balcony. Complimentary water and juice in the fridge. Also had robes. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Bar and restaurant on site with great service, food and drinks!

The honeymoon suite has ample room inc the ensuite bathroom. The shower itself is spacious with good water flow through the top showerhead in the ceiling as well as the handheld. Steam heads towards the ensuite window and is closed off from the bedroom, the way it is meant to be. One thing I did find strange was the shower did not leak out onto the floor, wow, amazing. Also, the honeymoon suite has a nice outdoor terrace overlooking Sicily, a bonus area for girls who need to brush their hair or dust things outside, inc shoe venting! As far as cleanliness goes, the whole property is spotless, but I guess they have to be, being a wedding reception centre. Another important factor is absolutely no pets allowed, fantastic for actually being hypo-allergenic and for people with phobias All the staff were accommodating and friendly. A special thanks to Aldo for fantastic service and also for getting up late one evening to let us in to unload baggage due to our late arrival. His brother and long-time employee Louisa for gorgeous breakfasts and great service.

Boasting fantastic beach resorts on its 2 coastlines, Calabria forms the toe of the Italian boot. A favourite of Italian holidaymakers, it is in many respects the region that Italy doesn’t want you to know about.

With some of Booking.com’s best Calabria hotels, Tropea has a fabulous beach at the foot of sheer cliffs topped by buildings. Neighbouring Capo Vaticano has beautiful beaches and a craggy coastline, and Scilla is another amazing Tyrhennian coast resort, immortalised in Greek mythology.

Gioia Tauro has an important port, as does Reggio Calabria, the region’s largest city and birthplace of Gianni Versace. It has an excellent archaeological museum housing the Riace bronzes – Greek statues from the 5th century BC. Just north at Villa San Giovanni, trains drive straight onto ferries to Messina in Sicily.

Inland is Aspromonte National Park, one of Calabria’s top tourist sights, while the Pollino National Park is in the north. Its nearest city is Cosenza with a tranquil old town and 13th-century castle. South is Lamezia Terme, site of the region’s main airport, and nearby Catanzaro is the Calabrian capital.

Crotone on the Ionian coast has a long, sandy beach, as does Soverato. Roccella Ionica’s beach is overlooked by a 16th-century castle, and inland Gerace is one of Italy’s best preserved medieval villages.

We came without any prior research of the property, just in last minute decision... and first day was cultural shock :), but at the end of the day we like it so much, because of the quietness of the property, stunning sunsets, beachfront, the storey of the plot, with the highest part being about 60 meters above sea level where was our apartment situated. Also there are a shuttle who moves you up or down if you are not relay on your legs :) - The apartment was well conditioned and dries the air, cause the humidity outside was extremely high :) - The beds was comfy - The parking lot was near to the flat - There was two swimming pools, one on our level with SPA and one with salt water on the sea level. - The bar and the restaurant prepares typical Italian cuisines - At the end, but not last, the staff was so friendly and polite

Rooms were clean and comfortable. Quiet at night. Gardens are so perfectly landscaped. Sea front is stunning with plenty of lounge chairs. Pool looked very inviting but it was mostly too cold in May to swim. Breakfast was a lovely spread including gluten free bread and croissants upon request. Only had lunch there once but it was nice and ingredients were fresh. Staff were so very friendly and just so happy to help. Drinks with sunset would have to be the highlight.

Beautiful seaside town.

Beautiful seaside town. We enjoyed wandering the streets away from the main tourist strip. Be sure to have dishes prepared with Calabria chilies- unlike red peppers we have in US and a bit of “sweet” heat but amazing flavor. Tropea red onions, sautéed, puréed amazing sweeter onion a must have when celebrating the Calabria region you’re visiting. We are foodies and had good food but we can’t recommend any place unfortunately….most food after hours of research and recommendations was mediocre at all levels of the price scale. Sad it’s probably impacted by how touristy it is nowadays. Good but not outstanding. Must embrace and try local vino, very enjoyable and prices were good!

Loved having a taste of the Italian culture in Reggio...

Loved having a taste of the Italian culture in Reggio Calabria and meeting the warm-hearted people. It was beautiful weather the whole time (August 26- September 4). We could easily walk around from the Bed and Breakfasts to see the sights up close and personal. It was a nice stroll along the Lung mare Falco Mata, and we enjoyed seeing the picturesque Strait of Messina. Mount Aetna was visible in the distance. It was interesting going via elevator to the fourth floor of the Arganese Castle, and seeing Reggio Calabria in all its grandeur! There were so many churches there! We loved the people, and hoped they would have more than just religion, but could enter into a personal relationship with God, by trusting in what Jesus did for us by dying on the cross to pay for our sins. We become in a right relationship with God when we accept Jesus' righteousness. Then, He reveals our purpose, and assures us of a home in Heaven!

Fantastic place, stunning views, spacious sandy beaches, very warm water in the sea. Friendly people and super delicious food! Groticelle beach and beaches in Tropea are wonderful. I ate in the That’s Amore restaurant - top quality food! Stromboli - it is must have trip by boat, unforgettable experience!

Pizzo is a beautiful and charming little town with a very relaxed and authentic atmosphere. We really loved that it wasn’t overcrowded with tourists, which made walking around and exploring even more enjoyable. The historic center is lovely, with beautiful views, cozy streets, great restaurants and cafés, and wonderful beaches nearby. We only spent one night in Pizzo, but we definitely wished we had more time to enjoy the town.

the Chianalea area was amazing, the walk through the narrow streets' past restaurants, bars, houses and accommodation was amazing. the beach was fantastic and only a 10min walk through this amazing place. the seafood, restaurants were fantastic with plenty of restaurants overlooking the water. the pesce spada is the local dish and worth trying again and again. What an amazing place.

The city is old, and not that pretty, the corzo ( piazza)needs updating...many places not open from 1-5, for rest time, you can find some nice restaurants close to centre, off side streets Parking is a struggle, so finding a spot and leaving car is best. The thermal baths are a 20min drive, or local bus..you can enjoy the whole day in baths for 30EU per person. The castle was closed, so you can only go and walk around it. Alot of migrants in city, many many...but the locals are very friendly and helpful. Airport was a short 20min car ride, easy. Mercato( fresh market) is open wendesdays...a 2 level indoor market with various booths with meats, fish, cheeses, vegetables, fruit, pastas and condiments. Located on Via Ticino. Desio Fucina Di Gusto, a lovely spot, upbeat with great food selection on Via Ticino.my husband enjoyed the Tripe, and I had a penne carbonara, Diana E Nettuno Ristorante, excellant place. On Via Loriedo ...Huge seafood selection, very friendly staff, opens at 730 a little upscale from others, just thevlighting needs to be dimmed a little, but we really enjoyed , my husband had the Ziti allo Genovese, excellent, and I had ravioli, eith a lovely sauce. A nice bottle of red local vino* There are some good little women's shops, as well as children's and home decor.

This was my second one-day visit to Cosenza, and I still...

This was my second one-day visit to Cosenza, and I still haven't had time to fully explore. However, both the historic part and the modern centre are extensive, so are worth more time. I haven't yet explored beyond the old town for restaurants, but there is a good trattoria with friendly service next to the cathedral. (Calabria Bella)

We visited some other towns in the region (Pizzo, Scilla, Tropea) and while they were all beatifull, we were really happy with choosing to stay in Parghelia. Everything important was really close: public beach (10 minutes walk), train station (1 minute away), grocery shop, plus there were a lot of amazing restraurants, cafés and ice cream shops.

A great place with nice beaches.

A great place with nice beaches. Not overcrowded like Capo Vaticano or Tropea, the sand is white and coarse (sand is actually better in Capo V.). Due to S.D. being located between C.V. and Tropea, it takes only about 20 min by car to get to the beaches and restaurants in the C.V. and Tropea. Sea water is fantastic. I was lucky to spend most of the vacation there.

Diamante is a beautiful little town that offers everything...

Diamante is a beautiful little town that offers everything needed for a perfect stay. Walk along the paved sidewalks with amazing views of the sea. Stop in for a caffe or gellato. Lots of restaurants to choose from. Murals on almost every building makes this town unique and beautiful. Emerged with the locals gives you a feeling of home. Very walkable town, just park the car and go. Diamante is a slice of paradise tucked away.
