Probably one of the most charming resorts I've ever been to. Originally the stone buildings of the local town converted into a warren of luxury, individual rooms. The furnishings are incredible and as warm and welcoming as the staff themselves. I cheated a little as I stayed here in 1994 but just had to bring my own family back 30 years later to share and enjoy it again. Views out over the mountains are incredible and the resort still feels part of the local town unlike nearby Wadi Musa that is the entrance to Petra and in my mind suffers a little from over development and a very "tourist" vibe. Highly recommend!!

The staff at the Seven Wonders Bedouin Camp at Little Petra were excellent , in particular the manager Ater, who welcomed us and was super helpful in helping to organise our walk around Petra , the accommodation was really good , very clean and comfortable, the food was great as well, local dishes. I would highly recommend a stay here , particularly if you wish to enter Petra through the much quieter and less touristy back entrance that brings you in via the Monastry at the top. .

Petra is unlike any place I’ve ever visited—it’s truly a wonder. Walking through the Siq and catching that first glimpse of the Al-Khazneh (the Treasury) is a moment I’ll never forget. The way the rock-cut architecture blends with the landscape is simply mesmerizing. You can’t help but feel like you’ve stepped into another time and place. The history of Petra is fascinating, and there’s so much to see beyond the main attractions. Exploring the Royal Tombs, climbing up to the Monastery, and wandering through the ancient streets makes you feel like you’re uncovering a secret world. The sheer scale and detail of everything is incredible—it’s a city carved into the rock, and it’s hard not to be in awe of how advanced and creative the ancient Nabateans were. The atmosphere in Petra is magical, too. Even though it’s a major tourist site, there are moments when you can find quiet spots to just take in the beauty around you. The sunsets are especially stunning—watching the colors change across the rocks is something you have to see for yourself. Whether you’re into history, nature, or just breathtaking views, Petra offers something for everyone. It’s a place that stays with you long after you leave, and I can’t recommend it enough. If you’re visiting Jordan, Petra should absolutely be at the top of your list!

This is a gem of Jordan for me.

This is a gem of Jordan for me. It's the place of nature and Bedouin lifestyle. I highly recommend to reach out to the hotel you're staying to ask for options of activities. Talking to the local definitely give you the most insightful and good choices. They know all the good things to offer and always share everything first and let you choose what resonates to you. The hotels in Dana were renovated from the abandoned houses. Many Bedouin people left to find jobs to lead an easier life. One family stays to bring the live back to village and give work to the community. So staying there means you support this lovely community and keep the village alive. ---- Tourist tips - Recommended mean of transport is driving - Food are homecooked. You can also join the activity of cooking in the wild. - Plenty of trails to trek and hike

we have encountered fraudulent behavior on the part of the accommodation operator. after making the reservation via "booking.com" we arrived to the location - meeting with the resort representative "Ahmad" we were taken to another camp resort ( very old, nor matching the pictures during the booking, empty ) being told that the other "camp" is full... but 1 room could still be found - as long as we're happy to pay double price. We accepted as we're in the middle of desert. But this was clearly deliberate fraudulent conduct. Our recommendation would be for Booking.com not to keep contractual relationship with such accommodation providers.

The village has been abandoned and then rebuilt as a hotel. It sits above a valley and has a stunning view that goes all the way to the Dead Sea. The very friendly Musaad made sure that everyone felt welcome and helped. He also set up a guide for our trip to the nearby Sela' fortress, which is a very interesting Nabataean site. A beautiful spot away from the crowds of tourists, a chance to see the real Jordan.

Well the landscape is breathtaking and there are some hikes provided. But sometimes, they require you to pay entry or hire a guide (for like 30 JD a person), which is a lot considering you are staying. Also if you want to do the Wadi Dana trail, you would have to arrange a 2-hour ride back.

The locals are fantastically helpful.

The locals are fantastically helpful. The Petra complex is really well organised and there is a huge amount to see. Do take the free horse ride at the entrance which takes you to the entrance of the main gorge. If you can locate Ayham and Nasir, they can take you on longer horseback excursions though this mythical landscape. I had not been on a horse for forty years and they took excellent care of me on an unforgettable two-hour trip around the uplands away from the tourists. They were unbelievably considerate of a nervous rider and I got to see things you can't reach on foot. There is also a wonderful museum included in the price of your ticket which was empty wehn I visited

Probably my rating or comment is not suitable for every travelers as foreigner but living in Jordan for long time. Definitely, I need 5 star hotels in Dead Sea or Aqaba to refresh myself and my family regularly. But Dana is a great place to also have regular visit as it is located within 2.5 hours range from my home in Amman, and to experience this great nature in reasonable expense. After over 10 years of staying in this country, as a person like to sleep under the millions of stars, Dana is most frequently visited location at the recent years of my life in Jordan.
