The restaurant and staff's customer service provided are more than experienced in any other place. The restaurant's food is hightely recomended to be booked included when booking this place, must be tried. I loved this place as soon as we arrived at the location. The view to the river is simply breathtaking. Very romantic and luxurious at the same time being decorated modernly japanese.

Surrounded by picturesque Northern Alps Mountains, Hotel Tateyama is located 8038 feet above sea level in Tateyama, right in the middle of the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route. The most delicious food and wine is here! When I informed the hotel that I do not eat meat, they were very caring and changed my meal with the ingredients I do eat. Location is superb! if you travel in Tateyama, you SHOULD stay overnight on the top of the moutain, do not rush to complete the whole mountain in one day, it wouldn't be worth it. Staff is helpful and cheerful. You can rent a private bath on the premises of the hotel. There are also free coin lockers, so you can leave your belongings after check-out and go explore the surrounding area.

Nature is wonderful in and around Toyama. City itself is average, but very clean and safe. The people are very countryside, and in Japan this means very insular, protective, and somewhat paranoid of anyone "different."
Our family set Toyama airport as a base to trip to HAKUBA ski areas in Feburary. There were some hot springs on the way to go to HAKUBA. You could enjoy skiing, taking a spa and driving a car in a heavy snow.
Very easy to get around Toyama with the tram. Each tram ticket costs 200 yen, but the hotel you stay at should have a discount ticket so get it if you can! The castle museum has an English translation book you can use for free. It's an interesting museum. You can get a joint ticket for the museum opposite the castle but it's very small. Check it out, it's only a 100 extra but I didn't think much of it. There is nice shopping around Toyama station.
The Toyama Glass Art Museum was very good! Toyama Castle is beautiful from the outside and you can go inside for a nice view. The inside of the castle is not authentic though. Toyama is famous of Toyama black ramen. It was a good experience, but very salty!
Didn't really explore Toyama, which we regret. We only used it as a base for an early morning Tateyama Alpine Route adventure. But definitely a nice city. Would have stayed longer if we had enough time.
Our main target was the Japan Alpine Route, so Toyama was a good stop to rest there for a night. It was raining on the next day so we had no chance to visit the city. Overall was happy about it.
If anyone got 3 or 4 days vacation and donot like to take long time during location point transporting.Toyama be good as.
I went to nice places during autumn. I`d recommend Kurobe Gorge train for the ride and Takaoka for its large Buddha statue and a nearby park. I ate quite a bit of seafood while there, go for sushi when there and if you can afford, try the white shrimp. You can get a place in the Toyama station.
Take a drive up the Himi coast! It's spectacular in any season! Takaoka is a fairly cool city. There are some chill little bars such as El Barco or Otto's House that has English speaking staff. For nature (and Toyama is perfect for it) check out Shomyu falls and it's worth a drive up the mountain to IOX AROSA in spring for the flower fields. And Ranjo no Mori on the 359 to Toyama is a cool forest good for exploring.
Because I've only 1 night in Toyama I can't tell many stories about Toyama.I've stay In Toyama because I want to go To Shirakawago

I really enjoyed my stay with Guesthouse Enishi! The host, Sota (?) was super friendly and funny. He made sure I was well settled in and felt comfortable. I stayed in a dorm style room, but the bed I slept in was really nice (I struggled to get out of bed). One thing is that the actual name of the guesthouse was a bit different from what it was on the site, so I had a bit of difficulty finding it at first. If you take the light rail from Toyama station, you should be able to make your way there. Overall, a pleasant stay for me!

Staff was great - very accommodating, friendly, and easy to work with. Hotel is situated very close to the castle and accompanying waterfront park. Public bath facilities are traditional, yet large and very enjoyable. If the public baths aren't to your liking, the room had the standard bath/shower/toilet facilities. Toyama was a great break from the big cities (e.g., Tokyo, Osaka, etc.). The town is making a big effort to capture some tourism. People everywhere were extremely friendly and helpful.

It has the best location. Very near to the Toyama station. Especially if you plan to take the Alpine route. The staff was very helpful arranging my luggage delivery for my following trip to Fukui. They also helped me to solved my booking arrangement issue in the other Route-In hotel in Fukui. By the way they have laundromat in the building, no need expensive hotel laundry! I forgot my camera, and they kept it until I return to pick it up the next week. Awesome!

By the time I got there, the hostel was just opened for two weeks - super new and modern with nice design. The location is excellent, withing walking distance from Toyama station. The staffs are also willing to help. Would recommend for anyone who wants to go to Kanazawa and Shirakawago- Gokayama to stay in Toyama, it’s close to both and the price isn’t ridiculously expensive as in Kanazawa.

Good location with easy access to public transport - bus stop is just outside of the main hotel entrance, and tram stop is a short walk away. Food street and shopping street located just across the road, and Toyama Castle a short walk away. Enjoyed the onsen tremendously, and the free ramen was delicious!!

- Just 3 min walk from JR Toyama station south exit. - Clean and big enough bed. - Doesn't have shops in the hotel building, but a convenience store is just across the street in front. - Quick check-ins and express check-outs to save time for your business or sightseeing.

1. Located just across the Toyama train station. There is a Lawson across from the reception. 2. Room is quite spacious (comparative to other JP hotels) 3. Breakfast - Highly Recommended. Variety is not bad. You will be able to see The Alps while having breakfast.
