I recently stayed at Ritz Residence, IMAGO Mall (Loft B) and the experience was nothing short of outstanding. The moment I entered, I was greeted by an atmosphere of pure cleanliness and refined comfort. Every part of the residence was impeccably maintained — spotless floors, fresh linens, and a level of care that truly sets it apart. What impressed me most was how generous they were with amenities. From high-quality toiletries to thoughtful touches that made the stay smoother and more enjoyable, everything was well-planned and top-notch. Even without kitchen facilities, the residence offered more than enough luxury and convenience to ensure a seamless stay. The rooms were beautifully designed, spacious, and undeniably elegant. The bed was exceptionally comfortable, giving me some of the best sleep I’ve had in a long time. Every detail — from the décor to the lighting and premium furnishings — contributed to a truly elevated experience.

The choices for food was off the charts.

The choices for food was off the charts. We loved the seafood choices at restaurants. Neyalan Seafood Restaurant and Welcome Seafood is a must do experience for any traveler/ The Waterfront Esplanade spoilt us for choices. We fell in love with the only Italian Wine / Food Restaurant. Excellent collection of imported wines and awesome pairings from seafood, pasta, meat cuts, cheeses and steaks. Doing a North Borneo Cruise 2-hour sunset with an excellent dinner and dance experience in the Bay of Kota Kinabalu, is must do, as well as the Hop On, Hop Off Bus Experience which includes 16 sites and three long stops. Overall KK has many other experiences outside of the city which we never got to in six days. Grab is the best e-hailing as opposed to hiring a car. Parking and city traffic can be very challenging. Most city hotels are within walking distance of the waterfront and shopping malls.

Definitely a must stop before or after your Kinabatangan...

Definitely a must stop before or after your Kinabatangan River experience. We went to the afternoon feeding at 3pm for the Orangutan our first day which was so much quieter than the following mornings 10am feeding. We got to see a mother and baby at the big wild platform area which was amazing and we went to the sun bears which was just incredible and well worth spending enough time to watch the videos and wander around the viewing platforms. We also got to see the bears enjoying munching on some kumara and one was asleep up in the tree. The next morning we only saw one small male Orangutan at the wild feeding platform and a lot of monkeys! Take a grab to the RDC and enjoy walking in the canopy walkway and taking in the incredible trees and wildlife.

The main attractions of Kundasang are the view of Mount Kinabalu, dairy farm and the cool air. The locals are friendly and willing to help. They helped me jumped start my tental car. There are many places to stay. I stayed in Kundasang because we wanted to climb Mount Kinabalu. Kundasang town itself is not impressive. It needs cleaning up if it wants to attract more visitors. Getting around Kundasang and other areas are best with rental car. Public transport are not reliable and e-hailing service is virtually non existence.

There’s not a lot to do or see in Sempora. It’s a jump off spot to local diving and islands. The best coffee I found is at McDonalds. Good idea to get cash before you get there, lines at ATMs can be n hour long. Wise red worked a treat for eftpos. Small supermarkets have everything you need with a variety of eating places

Sukau is very quiet with friendly local people.

Sukau is very quiet with friendly local people. You cannot find a bar or restaurant apart from where you are staying. There is no alcohol available due to their Muslim religion, however you can bring your own but also bring an esky. It is very unspoiled and a nice place to relax and enjoy the peace of the jungle. The boat tours are 3 times per day, where you can see many different birds, monkeys and if you are lucky like we were, the pygmy elephants. All of this is seen from a narrow boat on the river holding around 10 people. I highly recommend Sukau and particularly the Tommanggong River B&B. The accommodation for 2 was around AUS$50 /night and the tours approx AUS$25/person. The guide was excellent and very knowledgeable about the river, plants and animals. I highly recommend this tour for people of all ages and origins.

Immigration counter for elderly[>60years] & parent with infant was miss-used; probably should station an officer to monitor it. I decided to take local taxi from airport to Dynasty Hotel, instead of booking 'GRAB' or 'MAXIMM'; it was a mistake...as I have to wait nearly one hour; probably at night [2030], taxi are scarce; anyway it was a nice short journey; In the morning,[0830] I took a "GRAB" tp Piasau industrial area & it picked me up very fast; I noticed the roads are clean. no debris sighted.
