I was allowed to drag my bike caked in mud into the hotel reception and to be stored in a room on the ground floor. Well done. Not many other hotels would allow this.

The place and location are stunning — beautiful surroundings, incredible architecture, and a cosy atmosphere throughout the building. The stories behind it are really interesting and definitely worth asking about. The lady who hosted us was absolutely incredible — friendly, helpful, informative, and very caring. She made our experience and stay 100% better than we expected. We were lucky to be the only guests, and it truly felt like we received special treatment. The breakfast she served and the room she placed us in were mind-blowing. It was my birthday stay, and she made the day and celebration sooooooooo much more special for me.

Nice friendly welcome. The cabin was bigger than we expected. Everything you need is there including fresh sheets and duvet covers/pillow cases and towels. It's the first cabin we've had on our roadtrip that has included all of these. The cabin is fitted out in 70's style and I loved that. It's totally different! The bathroom/shower is big. The cabin is nice and comfy with a lovely view of the mountains and the river is steps away. We stayed in cabin 17 and it was pet friendly. The breakfast was your typical breakfast with eggs, bacon, cereals, toast etc etc so help yourself. We would definitely stay here again.

Very nice camping just few km before Oppdal. The room was in a building behind the reception and it was actually great like you have a small house in the nature and have your car parked in your yard (my car was 10m from my door, visible).
It was spacious, warm, with a spaciuous bathroom, a small kitchen and a table to put your notebook or eat. Everything you need so!!

lovely staff, a beautiful small house with well equipped kichten. Nice hot shower, very clean wooden old house, 7 people could sleep there, we got it just for two of us. Close to the road but didn't hear any noise. Close to the national park with oxes. Great WiFi. We could park close to the entrance.

The host was at reception when we arrived and provided us with keys to the cabin, directions and a layout of the property. She knew we were in the area to see the Musk Ox and provided information on how to get to Snoheim as with the hot weather, they moved up to higher ground.

Dombas is a wonderful destination for both winter and summer tourism. In winter, it offers a great ski resort, while during the summer months, visitors can enjoy hiking and a variety of other outdoor activities.

I stopped in Oppdal by train from Kongsvold.
I stopped in Oppdal by train from Kongsvold. I was on my way to Trondheim doing the pilgrimage of St. Olav's Way.
Oppdal is this small town that has a lot of charm. I was able to walk around town for a little bit. There are sidewalks throughout town that allow you to get all over the place.
Transportation - There is a train that can take you north to Trondheim. There's also a bus if you need to go to Berkåk. This makes it easy to get around. There's even a taxi service by the name of Trønder Taxi AS that you can use to get around. Warning - taxis are pretty pricey in Norway and I would recommend using public transportation if you can. Download Vy app to check times and buy any tickets you may need.
I ended up eating at Burger King in Oppdal(I know, very American of me). I wanted to have something quick to eat. I will say this, fast food chains are more expensive than local restaurants.

What a deserted boring town.
What a deserted boring town. Nature and surroundings were great. We only stayed 2 nights because we already paid. No proper restaurants, activities or city walks. Just a small industrial town in decay.
If you want to visit the surrounding nature, try to stay away from this town.
All we ate was take away pizza and that was not by choice.

- Entire place was dusty, genuinely dusty. (The rest of the day I had a blocked nose)
- All pots, pans, plates, cups and cutlery was smudgy and greasy.
- Furnace was greasy.
- Shower-head was just utterly disgusting. (see picture)
- Shower it self had mouldy places on the bottom of the wall and the shower curtain. (see picture)
- One of the mattresses had a pee-stain. (see picture)
- One of the beds looked already slept-in, the duvet was folded open in a way that would suggest this. (Obviously couldn't verify this.)
- Pillows and duvets had brown stains on them. (see picture)
- Windows had smudges all over them.
- Cupboard doors were slanting. (see picture)
- Dishcloth was gross. (see picture)
To sum this all up:
First and second impression tells us the place is badly maintained.

This is an exceptionally beautiful part even by Norways high...
This is an exceptionally beautiful part even by Norways high standards. Lovely village with good facilities. Conveniant to vist the historic Heavy water plant and the 'Heroes of Telemark' story form the 2nd World War. We travelled on 6 motorbikes and were made very welcome.

It's a small place with quite a lot of history and it is popular during the day with tourists transiting through in mobile homes etc. There's good value shops to stock up on provisions and a couple of cafes - also a police station if you need them.
I used it for a layover on a long train journey and for that it was ideal.
There is some great countryside around with at least one very nice walk.
Nothing much happens at night. I get the impression its a staging post above in the main and for that its ideal.
The rail station is up hill from the town - be prepared if you're carrying bags etc.
