The hotel is in a wonderful location with a fantastic view of Lake Titicaca. The rooms were super clean, spacious, and had very comfortable beds. Exceptional location with elevated view of Lake Titicaca and with a short walk within the property 360 deg views including reed island. The property has lots of fauna that attracts humming birds and their pet Alpacas are delightful. The owner is a chef and the food extremely good. The rooms are large and the hotel has character and each room spectacular views. It’s a 10 minute drive by taxi. The hotel can arrange this for 15 pen. Well worth it to get away from noisy town. We stayed two days and did not leave!

Our stay at Titikaka Sky View Lodge was one of our favourite stays while in Peru. So good to escape the hustle and bustle for a couple of nights just chillin’. The accommodation is “luxury glamping”, off-grid, (there’s heating for the cold nights), floating on an island of reeds, with gorgeous views out the many windows, night and day. Our host Ron, and his lovely wife Liz, looked after our every need. (And they have the cutest, friendliest little dog Daisy) Ron picked us up at the port in the dark on our first night and offered us dinner, as we were late arriving in Puno. The next day we got a lovely tour of his local community and a history lesson on the Uros Islands and their way of life, which was so interesting. Ron was always available on WhatsApp for whatever we needed. We could buy beers, extra waters and delicious meals for a very cheap price. Would 100% recommend staying here. A lifetime experience. ❤️

It was my second time to stay at the GHL Hotel Lago Titicaca during the same trip. I had checked out of Hotel Lago Titicaca on November 13th and travelled to Bolivia for three days. I returned to Hotel Lago Titicaca for a further two nights from November 15th-November 17th. I had been very tired following my trip through Bolivia and I was so happy to return to the warmth and comfort of my bed at Hotel Lago Titicaca. My room was once again upgraded to a King Suite with yet another splendid view down onto Lake Titicaca. My second stay was mostly one of rest but the quiet confines of the hotel suited such rest. The Hotel Restaurant once again provided such delicious and nutritious food both as a Breakfast Buffet and for the Evening Meal. My room was meticulously cleaned and when it came time to check-out I was sad to depart but so happy that I was lucky enough to have stayed at this Gem of a Hotel not once but twice.

This property went above and beyond in every possible way. Gelen and the reception staff were so thoughtful. As I was checking in, I mentioned I was feeling very unwell. Gelen suggested I have some oxygen im so grateful as I definately needed the oxygen. Gina and the kitchen staff provided amazing breakfast with huge variety and the dinner meals were great. Being unwell it was good I could hand my laundry in and that was sorted. The room was excellent. I left early in the morning and was provided a breakfast box. They seemed to think of everything. Will be recommending this property to anyone and everyone.

Everything. From the kind staff to the view from our room. The shower had hot water, we had heating on. It was great. Breakfast was amazing, it was a buffet with fresh bread, jam, fresh yogurt, fresh juice, cereal, ham, cheese. Just amazing. There is always tea at reception which is a plus. I think it is the best place I stayed in Peru

Puno is not a place to visit during the winter.

Puno is not a place to visit during the winter. No place has heat, and the temperature at night and in the early morning was always below freezing. I do not like the cold, so it was a constant unpleasant experience for me.

Isla (island) Amantaní and Taquile are both very remote, about a three hour boat ride from Puno, But I would highly recommend going for a very unique and traditional experience with a Peruvian family. When you book a tour, they usually take you to both islands, but an overnight with a family on Amantaní. I would recommend two nights because it is far and then you have time to fully relax and enjoy the community!! It was also fun to stay in the home with other travelers, four other people from three different countries in Europe! We hiked to the top of the island for sunset where there is a beautiful memorial/ worship site for Pachamama (Mother Earth). Also, the food prepared in our home was very delicious.😊

Luquina is the local community that seemed very family-oriented. There is a lot of farming and the people have a beautiful connection to the Earth. This is a place to go for R&R. There are no big tours from here or shopping. There our opportunities for kayaking and hiking. Bring your hat and sunscreen, maybe a yoga mat or favorite book. Wi-Fi connection is good here but don't you want to disconnect?

Puno is a beautiful city, with friendly people, breathtaking scenery and lots to do both in the city and surroundings. The highlights are the visit to the islands of the Tititcaca Lake and the tours to small towns nearby the city, like Pucara, Lampa and Chucuito.

This is the most peaceful place on earth.

This is the most peaceful place on earth. The island offers the most sacred experiences. We spent two nights there, eat completely organic food from the garden, our host was amazing. If you want an authentic Lake Titicaca experience, this is it. Their 11 year old son took us to the fountain of youth, the Pachamama and Pachatata temples on top of the mountain. We had a wonderful experience with a local Shaman. This place is well cared for, host and family are the most loving people, sharing their lifestyl with their guest. There are no cars on the island, you walk everywhere. The boat ride to their place was breath taking as it is on the south side of the island, very private and quite.

The children playing outside welcomes us and brought us to their father who runs Luquina. The studio was located on the beach beautifully decorated, warm and sunny with a glass wall, and a partially glass ceiling with a beautiful view across the lake. The sunset photos from the terrace to which we had direct access were stunning. The bathroom was really wonderful with accessories and a bath. the beds were very comfortable . We felt the hosts investment in his accommodation experience for his guests was original and charming and very helpful ( 6AM departure with the donkey carrying our small bags up to the waiting taxi) after checking in, We did the whole dress up thing, in traditional costumes that were available, and went for a walk with the children to a viewing point beside the location and had so much fun taking pictures that now remain as one of the most colourful moments in our Peru trip. Dinner in the evening was copious and tasty, The clever design of the studio meant that one could separate the sleeping area from the desk and sitting area ( via curtains ) so incompatible sleep times are catered for. The glass roof allowed for lying in bed and star gazing while listening to the gentle movement of Titicaca a few meters away. I love Luquina and the whole family experience and regret that I had not planned to stay longer for the peace and tranquility and friendliness it offered. I had no time to explore the area or use the canoes or other facilities offered.

While Peru is filled with incredible destinations, Puno was a letdown. The primary attraction, the Uros Floating Islands, felt inauthentic and exploitative. It's evident that the community does not live on the islands full-time, using them primarily as a stage to sell overpriced souvenirs to tourists. The genuine highlights of the region are Lake Titicaca itself and the distant Taquile Island. However, both are arguably better experienced from the Bolivian side in Copacabana, which offers a more scenic and rewarding base for exploration.
