Wonderful place to go. first, visited the Lago Titicaca, there are many islands, I went to Tekile and Uros Islands(artificial/floating Island).Tekile, We walked around the island, had lunch and enjoyed cultural demonstrations/dance. We slept one night at Quechua lodge (Uros-floating islands) with JENNY & Mario family, it was a nice learning experience. I visited the Ruinas of Sillustani, there is also a huge lake, wonderful view. BE READY TO WALK!! CAREFUL selecting the bus if you travel from Cusco. In my case the fly was cancel due to problems in the Airport. I had to use bus to get to Puno. It wasLong travel times, bus in poor condition(bathroom).
The city doesn't have much to offer. The only tour that really matters is the one on the Titicaca lake. A simple one-day tour is enough, no need to stay for two nights and sleep in the islands to visit all of them. The Cafe at the Corregidor House is cool for some earned rest.
If you want to see Lake Titicaca, you need to go to Puno. The overnight tour we took was fabulous - the people of Amantani Island were wonderfully hospitable. Walking on one of the floating islands of the Uros is incredible. Otherwise, Puno is sprawling and not really a tourist destination. The area around the Cathedral square had many places to eat, especially pizza (was very good - wood fired ovens).
I though Puno would just be a jumping off point for Lake Titicaca excursions. It is that, but I also enjoyed watching the celebrations that were going on there at the time, too. I found the people friendly, and the food good. I could have stayed longer to enjoy both the town and the lake more.
The city of Puno is ugly. The floating islands are a magic you will only experience in Lake Titicaca and perhaps even only at DoraTiticaca Lodge because the family is SO kind. They took me on private tours and made sure that each person was personally cared for as they were interested.
Juliaca and Puno both sad towns full of litter and pollution, bad roads and drivers. The historic plaza was under construction. Lake front smelly and littered. Too many vendors approaching us to try and sell things. Boat ride to islands ok but boat itself was old and filthy. We sat outside of the cabin most of the time. Floating islands were interesting but the whole experience was sad in a way. Snack shops ("restaurants") out there were awful--we didn't eat there. Once you get to one island they require you to pay more to ride to another island, or else you can stay and wait for the return boat at the 1st island where there is nothing to do for an hour. I thought Lake T would be so awesome, but I have seen many lakes that are much more beautiful. The only day we enjoyed was the tour to the Sillustani burial grounds--that was worth seeing.
The property was as advertised. My room was quiet and clean. the bed was new and comfortable. The staff was amazing and very professional. It was only about a minute walk to the Plaza de Armas and the place just seemed very relaxed. Breakfast was from 6 am to 8 am which for me was perfect as I like early morning coffee. most tours begin pickup at the hotel around 7 am, so you were able to have a good breakfast before exploring. I would definitely stay there again. Beautiful people and nice, clean hotel for the money!
This is an island built and run by a lovely family. This is not a typical hotel and should not be treated as one. From the very moment we arrived, we were part of the family. All the facilities were clean and modern. It was actually the nicest place we stayed in while in Peru. The bed was comfortable and the view was stunning. I didn't expect much by way of toilet and shower given it's an island made of reeds but I was pleasantly surprised by their setup. Staying here was the highlight of our trip.
Hotel T'ika was one of the best affordable hotels that we had chosen in our tour around Peru. The breakfast was amazing, instead of choices you have everything. The tours are at a really good price, the hotel is pretty and has everything even heating. The wifi is good. Bertha is just awesome, really nice, she is there to help you anytime. If you are dying she will get you a doctor, bamm you are alive! We are planning to return for the Candelaria.Kelly and Zsolt.
The staff at the front desk are very accommodating and friendly. breakfast was great. You had plenty of options to choose from when it came to the food. The view from the hotel was phenomenal - you don't even need to go to "el mirador". The rooms were clean and the bedding was super comfortable. It does get cold in Puno at nighttime, but you can't even feel it in the room. The bathroom was stocked well and the shower was nice and hot. Great place.
Puno
The staff was excellent and attentive., especially Rosa The facility was very clean overall. The breakfast was good, and I appreciated that it started at 6 AM. The hotel had many features not common in less expensive facilities in Peru including a bedside lamp and a bathmat as well as a towel. The communication was excellent - the owner answered messages promptly and was available to take calls. The hotel provided transportation from the bus station to the hotel.
Puno
Wow - we spent 3 weeks in Peru and this was the highlight. Absolutely beautiful and unique location we did not want to leave. Paradise - every detail is special. The hosts care for everything you need and go above and beyond during the stay. Truly kind and wonderful people who love to share their culture with pride and reverence. We will never forget our time in this gorgeous, completely unexpected place.
Hotel is located in the heart of Puno. Close to everything What made the difference was the WiFi was very weak in our room and the IT manager Arturo Vargas took a personal interest and checked the signal levels in various rooms and moved us to a room with strong signal. This level of customer service is greatly appreciated. Thank you Arturo
Puno
Julio and his brother are just the best. As soon as you arrive they take care of you. The Views are amazing and the beds are very comfortable. My boyfriend was very sick while we were there so they took really good care of him. The altitude of the lake should not be underestimated ;-) If we come back to Peru we would stay there again!!
Puno

Puno
Eddy & his family were so welcoming! They arranged our taxi & boat transfers to/from Puno to their floating guest houses in Uros. Eddy provided a top notch private 1.5 hour tour of the area by boat. And Eddy's mother prepared a delicious breakfast & lunch.
Big comfortable room and bathroom. Very quiet compared to other inner city hotels we've stayed at in Peru. Heater supplied. Great location just a block from the main Plaza. Good breakfast buffet , includes fresh fruit.
Stayed in 301 which was perfect with the best shower/bed/pillows we have had during our stay in Peru!! The room was sparkely clean too. Thank you
Puno

Clean hotel and good service
If you’re considering visiting Lake Titicaca you simply have to stay here! Is not just a place to stay, Cesar and is family go far and beyond to attend your needs and they include a tour through the Uros island explaining about the culture, activities and every day life there. The rooms are super comfortable and cute. Also, Lucy (Cesar’s wife) cooks beautifully and you’ll have healthy and plentiful meals. We couldn’t recommend more!
