Arequipa is the most beautiful city centre in Peru and my favourite city. I love to visit for short relaxing breaks to get away from the stresses of work and Lima. There are some fantastic restaurants, and the Monastery and Cathedral are a must to visit. It is also a great base for visiting many other attractions in the south of Peru.

Although a small town and can easily be covered on foot, there are a lot to see. Should spend at least 2 full days to explore the old town area alone. I spent 3 hours at the santa catalina monastery. Juanita museum was amazing. The Misti Volcano was so beautiful.

We stayed three days in Arequipa, could have stayed longer. The culinary scene is exceptional. The Plaza de Armas is a fascinating place to hang out. Great for people-watching, historical buildings, starting tours, and much more. The plaza is stunningly beautiful, especially at night.

Very nice city, we liked the vibe much more than in Cusco. Picanterias are exceptional, volcanoes’ views are fascinating. Mummy museum is great experience. Unfortunately , we didn’t have time to visit Colca canyon so need to come back
