This was not a part of our plans, just to get a nights rest before flying home. We went directly from the airport to Cusco, and this was the only way we could get to our return flight. As it was, I made a mistake on the timing of the flight (1am not 1pm) and so we had an extra whole day in the city. We really enjoyed it. The first day we did the tourist bus from Miraflores, and that was ok (tough to understand the English part of the dual language tour). We then checked out the coastal area briefly before going back. Day 2 was an adventure because I had messed up the flight timing. We made the best out of it by renting a car and going back to some of the areas we saw the previous day. We found a great vegan restaurant and got to check out the beaches, which are VERY different than anywhere I've been in the world, and I have traveled for 20 years on business. The people are pretty nice but almost exclusively speak Spanish. Google translate is your friend. A lot of drama getting to the airport at night, the traffic at 9pm was so crazy. But we certianly saw enough that we really don't need to go back. Two days is good for this place. And in our two days, it was really 18 hours total.

Lima is an amazing city.
Lima is an amazing city. If you are a city person you will enjoy. We stayed in Miraflores and walked a lot. Many great restaurants to explore. Loads of parks. People watching. We never felt unsafe. Historical Lima is great to stroll and take in the history. Ceviche ceviche and more ceviche. China town and the market. Request your pisco sour dry if you don't like sweet cocktails. I would go back in a heart beat!

This is not in Lima but in Playa Zorritos.
This is not in Lima but in Playa Zorritos. The condo unit was generally ok but it was missing things like a toaster, knives that can cut, a choice of pillows, sheets that fit and were not threadbare. Overall things needed to be painted.

Lima is one of the best cities in the world if you are into culinary delights. It is also a great place to visit if you enjoy a rich history from ancient to modern times, with great architecture and archeological remains.
The people in Lima are super friendly and if you stay in a tourist area you will find that many people speak and/or understand English.
Some of my favorite spots include the Historic Center of Lima; most of the museums; the most recommended restaurants, the beaches, and some of the Shopping Malls.

In Lima, there is so much to do and visit.
In Lima, there is so much to do and visit. I recommend doing a tour with a local tour guide. Uber is the best way to travel and is reasonably priced. I love Peruvian cuisine, and the restaurant scene is a must if you are going to visit.

We stayed only one night in Lima and we felt it is just enough time to visit.
The city is huge with a lot of poor housing and doesn't feel very safe.
The recommended tourist spots took as just half a day to visit - so we had time to roam around the local artisanal market to buy souvenirs, and to sit in one park and just relax.
The main square was almost closed for pedestrians due to some demonstration happening later during the day, so there was a lot of police there. Probably, that's why it felt rather safe around.
The Palace and the Cathedral were closed for this reason, but I assume it would not take us too long to visit them and should be manageable in one day.
The Santo Domingo market we accidentally found is really a great spot to buy souvenirs - as the prices are at least twice cheaper than on the street shops. They do not accept cards, but agreed to take US dollars at a great exchange rate when we ran out of Soles.
The Kennedy park is just a joke - a tiny playground overcrowded with local kids. What is even more disappointing about Lima is that this playground looks to be the only one in the whole 10-million city, which was really shocking to my kids: for example in the Malecon de Miraflores the so-called kids playground is just an area where you can play with a ball that you brought from home, and nothing else - not even a single swing or slide.
The restaurants in Lima look to be way too overpriced, especially knowing the average cost of living in Peru in general. The one we visited was fine, but the one I found in Machu Picchu was even better.
In a nutshell, if you need to save time for other places in Peru, like Cusco - you can easily avoid staying in Lima at all: you won't loose too much. If you have time, Lima is a nice city to visit, but I can't imaging myself staying longer than 1 night and don't have high expectations.
The hotel is rather cozy and looks elegant. The Miraflores area around felt generally safe for Lima and had nice dining and shopping options around.
The included breakfast was in the adjacent restaurant, so the only dish was egg choice - but these were the most tasty eggs we had during our 3 week trip. And they refilled our coffee for free - I usually drink several espressos for breakfast ;)
According to my Garmin watch I had the best sleep in this hotel during our whole trip, so I guess the bed was comfortable to me.
The owner is a delight. She did everything she could to make us feel welcome and cared for. There were so many thoughtful touches like complementary fruit in the rooms. The bed (though not the sofa bed) was very comfortable and the room, although a little old and basic, was exceptionally clean. The price for a hotel in a capital city is very cheap and this is reflected in what you get in terms of facilities. The owner however would put any 5 Star concierge to shame in terms of the effort she puts in to look after you.
Janet and her staff are just amazing. Very kind, helpful and great service. Even made me amazing vegan breakfast every morning. The location is perfect, right in the middle of Miraflores, but in a small quiet street, so you can have a good rest. The rooms are spacious and spotless with all amenities you need (and more). In almost 4 months traveling, this was by far the best place I stayed at and I can only recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet, central, clean home away from home in Lima.
Breakfast was included and well done and fresh. As for the location, it is in Miraflores, which is the best neighborhood to stay at if you visit Lima. At just 100 meters you will find the most beautiful walking paths at city edge and with overview over the ocean. There are a couple of restaurants within walking distance with pretty good food. There is also a shopping mall, ocean side where you can shop and lunch, dine.
Staff was friendly and the rooms were clean and well equiped.
Perfect location for an overnight stay on your way to Cusco. It’s a 5 minute free shuttle ride away from the airport and has a delicious buffet breakfast available from 4am -10am for travelers. Staff are very friendly and helpful and most speak very good English and are happy to help refine Spanish skills! Taxis are available for visits into the sights of Lima. Don’t miss seeing Miraflores or Plaza de Armes!
It's the best place to stay in Barranco and Miraflores. The personal is very friendly and the rooms are big and clean. And this is the most quiet place in central Lima. If you're looking for a place in Lima where you can sleep and have rest with a guarantee then you're lucky if you get a reservation in that hotel. Inside the hotel there are lots of natural plants and flowers. It looks fantastic 😍😊
Great location 15min walk to barranco district, 30 min walk to miraflores with its shops and restaurants. The house is soo cute and comfortable. The staff is so wonderful that i have already booked this hotel 3 times!!! The breakfast is delicious. There is a terrace if you smoke. Honestly i cannot fault it. Try to avoid late check in for cheaper taxis from the airport
Would recomment this place!!!
The location for this hotel is the BEST. It is a 10 min walk from the Miraflores area which is probably the best area in Lima to visit. We spent 2 full days in Miraflores and feel like we could've stayed longer. The breakfast here is buffet style and so delicious. They serve all sorts of fruits, many freshly squeezed juices, egg preparations etc. The staff is very friendly as well.
A very good hotel in a quiet area of Miraflores. Very good breakfasts. Very nice and professional service. They help to order a taxi - the prices are very accurate. Coming from the airport you can take the Aiport express bus, which becomes a 10 minute walk, or ask the hotel for assistance. Very good contact.
This is the best/cheapest hostel in Miraflores. I loved the balconies overlooking the main square, the staff was super helpful and fun, and although the breakfast was basic Lima is extremely expensive and this definitely the best bang for your buck as a budget traveler.
The location is wonderful, in a quiet part of Miraflores but nonetheless close to the best parts of the neighborhood. The staff is extremely friendly and accommodating. This is a perfect spot if you’re not planning on spending a lot of time in the hotel.
Great breakfast, really nice location. Miraflores is the best place to stay in Lima, the hotel was really nice located, near to the ocean and restaurants. It was beautiful and the breakfast was 10/10.
Excellent location in Miraflores, very kind and thoughtful staff. It was a great experience staying in this hotel. The room was cozy and very clean. The breakfast was pretty good.
Miraflores is probably the best location in Lima a this hotel is very comfortable. The room was big, good looking. We had a junior suite, with all we needed.
I like that the hotel is located in Miraflores a very nice area in Lima. Basically good if you just a place to stay for a day before going to Macchu Picchu.
