"Beautiful beach town, beautiful views. Fun boardwalk full of shops, restaurants, gelatos & pastry shops. Friendly Nazarenos all around. Loved it. Lovely beach...and very clean. Just be cautious that the ocean current is quite strong & not recommended for children to be unsupervised. Go to Sao Martinho do Porto or Foz do Arelho where the ocean is calmer and the sand is thinner -- everyone can swim with ease there."

"Beautiful fishing village with charm and character as well as lovely activity filled beaches. Lovely restaurants and bars to soak up the sun. 3 nights was perfect to walk the coast and spend some time relaxing and on the beach. We had a car but walked everywhere to get the best out of it. Recommend the Java house bar for drinks and relaxing and check around for restaurants. There are some on the harbour front but some of the best ones were hidden in the back streets with amazing service and fresh, beautiful dishes to choose from."

"A wonderful town to visit! Lots of shops with unique gifts, beautiful church, a castle, incredible musicians making the most of the open space and acoustics. LOVED our visit! Restaurants did not disappoint and our stay at Patio House was outstanding! Our hosts were incredible and ensured our stay was memorable and special. We felt very welcomed! Highly recommend making this walled town a stop and linger for a while during any trip to Portugal! The cobblestones and hills are worth it! Just be sure to wear comfortable shoes!"

"Caldas is a treasure! It’s a small, unassuming town, with gorgeous cobbled streets, a very large segment of walking streets in old town, a very beautiful park to meander in, and a wonderful outdoor market open every morning of the year. I found it and its residents delightful and welcoming. I left my backpack in a store and of course it was right there waiting for me behind the checkout, protected by store employees. I so love Portugal and the warmth and charm of the Portuguese people, This town is a beautiful place to stay if you want to do a very easy one day trip to historic Obidos! I highly recommend staying here. Train station is a tiny walk to town."

"It's a lovely place, with a good blend of touristy lodgings and real Portuguese inhabitants. The town is great in itself, and a very good base for daytrips to Nazaré, Óbidos, etc. One gets an array of both beach and countryside, with lots of different crops along the way and storks nests! Many restaurants, a number of small supermarkets and other places selling food, as well as a bigger supermarket, a great ice cream parlour, etc. In the evening, it is so nice to go for a stroll on the main road that runs parallel to the beach. One sees tourists, young people and families alike. There's not a sense of a holiday place where people go to to get drunk. One never grows bored."

"The place is so lovely, the temperature is perfect in Summer as we had 20-25 degrees on average, it is true that the water in the ocean is cold, but it is highly compensated by nice food, good weather and great people. I totally recommend you to try this destination, specifically the "Santa Cruz" apartments, in the Santa Helena building, one of the bests apartments I´ve been."

"I love this little laid back village. You can walk anywhere and there are many places to sit along the beach and enjoy wine for under 2 euros a glass - including Onadas Cafe, Oasis, and Restaurante Marisol. The beach is pristine and the water is blue. It's a lovely spot that I have returned back to now 4 times and have another trip planned this coming fall. We like to eat at Ala Norte and Cocos, as well as Tibino. On the main street, you can get the best take away chicken at Churrasqueira Galaruxo. Be sure to ask for Peri Peri with the chicken. YUM! For a relaxed breakfast coffee and croissant - try Confluencia. Also, be sure to watch for an evening of wine tasting at the wine bar in town - also on Main Street. Trombones is also a favorite local hangout with music and drinks."

This hotel, in a beautifully renovated part of a centuries-old monastery, was one of the loveliest hotels I've ever stayed in. The renovation has been expertly done, and respects the architecture and feel of the monastery, and the interior decoration and furnishings complement the architecture. It was such a lovely experience overall, but what we remember the most is a very good sleep ( not sure if those were the cushions or the matraces that did the magic) very friendly and helpful stuff and tasty breakfast. The location was very convenient, couple of minutes away from the beach, the funicular with a good variety of restaurants around, and 10 min walking from the bus station.

The Movement and Nature house really exceeded my expectations. Tucked away between the ocean and Santa Cruz's centre, you feel you could stay forever. The staff is super friendly and helpful, the rooms are stylish and comfy, and the activities made my stay even better. You can walk around the property in a dedicated walking trail and go all the way down to one of the surrounding beaches. Recommend!
