I loved the scenery and historic buildings (the views from the castle, main Street etc), the food was good and the atmosphere was friendly. The sense of community is great! I'd definitely recommend it to my friends. It's beautiful at night, all illuminated, and is very clean. I remember we ate at 1st dezembro and the wait time was quite long, however that is to be expected with a town that attracts so much tourism. It's nice to walk around but some places may be restricted to the elderly/disabled due to slopes, stairs and general lack of access. We tried to take an Uber to Óbidos but we were unable to, so that might be a detraction for tourists that are unwilling to rent a car/cannot drive. The ATM we went to didn't have money so next time I'd bring more cash. There's nothing I would avoid if I returned here again, other than the sun!
A small, pretty, walled Medieval town on a hill with cobble stone streets and several churches which you can walk all around in 2 hours. Many restaurants there for tourists. Walking the top of the wall gives great views but is a bit scary with no railings. All shops only sell souvenirs or the local cherry liquor so no convenience store for example. Access to the old city is controlled so no cars or taxis. You must walk in through the old walls. We were there during the annual Medieval Festival which was interesting but crowded.
Basic but clean hotel in center of charming Obidos. Do not expect the air condition to be available or work, it’s ancient and in our two rooms they did not work. No elevator in case accessibility is important. Bed was overly firm for us but may be good for others. Generally it’s an ok hotel if you want central location, clean, and are ok without A/C. Shower was good, hairdryer in bathroom.
A fun and completely different type of town to stay in. Had fun walking along the castle walls, shopping for local wares, tasting the local ginja cherry liquor drink in a chocolate cup, and feeling like we had a glimpse into medieval times. Definitely worth a visit for a day or overnight. Tasty dinner at Ladrador and delicious bread for breakfast at Caprinho.
Stayed here for 2 days with my friends. I could have added an extra day but ran out of time. We were very happy with the location and accommodations. Close to everything (restaurants, parking, sites and roads and even the castle). Love to come back some day
One day to explore is enough. Make sure to walk the wall. It's a beautiful walled village. You cannot park inside the wall. But there are better hotels inside the village. It's not a long walk from where u can park. Don't take large luggage, it's all cobblestone up and down hills. Ther flies were horrible when we were there. Lots of great little places to eat and shops. We loved a tavern called Petrarum Domus... ther atmosphere and food was exceptional.
Óbidos
We had a very pleasant stay at the Foral Guest House. Everything was clean and seemed very well taken care of. There was free tea, coffee and water for the guests. Besides of that the guests are always allowed to use cutlery and plates, as well as the fridge. The Check-in was uncomplicated and nice, Nini is very friendly and welcoming. Great location in middle of the little streets of Óbidos. Restaurants, handicraft shops and much more things to explore (for example the castle of Obidos).
Óbidos
The house has various spaces available. There is a choice of 4 bedrooms, though 3 of them have small beds. Good level of cleanliness in terms of dust. Sufficient number of towels (we did not use all). Did not meet the owner though we communicated over IM to pickup the key, troubleshoot the internet and indicate the departure time. The best bit is that picturesque Obidos is 4km away (check the map as the address might make you believe house is just outside the town's fortifications).
This hotel was the perfect way to end our two and a half week visit of mainland Portugal. Situated in the beautiful countryside of, Obidos, Casa de Campo Sao Rafael provided a quiet, old world charm, calming retreat. The pool and grounds are beautiful. The breakfast had a wide variety of choices and everything was fresh and delicious. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom was quite large. I would highly recommend staying at Casa de Campo Sao Rafael when in Obidos.

The breakfast was of a simple "continental" style (Breads, Fruit, Yoghurt, Cold Meat and Cheeses, Cereal), well presented and tasty. The bed room was spacious and well appointed as was the bathroom. Good views of the Obidos town walls and castle. Good local restaurants within walking distance. Good outdoor pool. Well signed from the main road. Plenty of lounge areas both in a games room and terrace overlooking the garden. Quiet
Staff was very friendly, the pool area small and calming, the little spa great and the breakfast really tasty. The fact that it was a little calming resort just off Óbidos was perfect. We took it as a break after spending the whole day travelling and walking in the Dino Park in Lourinhã, so the peace and quiet was exactly what we were looking for.
Right inside the castle walls so you get a good feel of the location. Cosy, intimate hotel with a lovely balcony looking out to the castle wall and a little patio below. Comfortable room and beds. Food was very good at the in-house restaurant Comendador Silva. Easy walk to the main tourist street of Óbidos. Wish I could’ve stayed one more night.
Very helpful and attentive hosts with suggestions on restaurants, walks etc. Modern, spacious and spotlessy clean apartment with everything provided for a comfortable stay. Easy parking outside the door and yet within 5 minutes walking distance of Óbidos Castle walls, restaurants and shops. Good WiFi and multichannel TV, Netflix and Amazon.
Very quirky hotel. Nice breakfast. Plenty of bookshelves to explore. Good range of gins, if you like gin. Good location for exploring the walled village nearby, the main gate being a short walk up a rather steep bill. Rooms pleasant, if a little spartan... well it wasn’t original convent I suppose.
Location is the best! Staying in castle is very atmosferic. Very clean. Breakfast was excellent! Dinner was very nice, a little pricy for its quality, but service was nice. View from castle walls was amazing! Hotel has private part of it were you can relax and have drink away from crowd.

Small Hostel (One private room and one 6 bed dorm). Bed was comfy. Hot water was quick. Very Clean. 40 steps to the Castle Wall. About 1/2 mile from the Train Station. Marcelo Answered all my Text Questions quickly (But was never at the Hostel). Good Value. I would Recommend.
The location is outside of the medieval village of Óbidos but it´s an easy 5-10 minute flat walk to reach the walled village. There was plenty of free parking and the apartment is very well equipped and makes excellent use of the space. The owner was friendly and welcoming.

Great location right inside city walls with free parking at upper castle parking lot. Short walk from parking lot to hotel. Very nice helpful hosts. Bed was comfortable and room was clean. Breakfast was adequate. Very good value for the money.

João is the best "guide" ever. The hospitality and the structure of Casa de Picva is amazing. One of the best places to stay in Portugal, and, for us, the best in Obidos.
amazing great hotel in Lisbon. We were far away from reception so did not get noise as others complained. location was awesome few minutes walk to Obidios castle.
Location is Perfect if you wish to explore the beautiful Castle of Obidos. Also close to many interesting places in the centre of Portugal.
