Lovely location, overlooking the castle wall. So close to the beautiful boutique shops and restaurants. Very friendly staff who gave us a complimentary glass of red wine and meat platter as we were staying there for my husband’s 50th birthday. It was a lovely surprise for us.

This hotel is situated within one of the 7 wonders of Portugal, Castelo de Óbidos. It combines 14th century medieval accommodation with modern facilities in the heart of the village of Óbidos.

We had one of the best rooms in the hotel. Across the hallway the room had a private balcony with two chairs and a table - my wife loved it. There was also a walkout to the castle walls and the towers where we could walk and take photos. The breakfast was also one of the best we had during our trip in the hotel restaurant.
Well located in the Obidos Medieval Town district of Óbidos, Casa Lidador - Obidos is located 200 metres from Obidos Castle, 39 km from Monastery of Alcobaca and 26 km from Peniche Fortress.

Obidos is a charming small town with its original surrounding walls. It's great for a one night stay and an exploration of the town, the castle and the walls, If you're not too afraid of heights (there are no guardrails) you can walk pretty much all the way around the town on the walls. There are some very good restaurants and charming shops. If you are planning an overnight stay the Patio House is well worth considering.

Overrun with tourists.
Overrun with tourists. We liked other locations similar to Obidos which were missing the hoards of tourists. Obidos, Lisbon and Porto were overrun with tourists April 10-May 15. We visited three other fortress hilltop towns that had only three to five other tourist cars visiting while we were there. I would skip Obidos and we left the place after one hour.

Everything was great.
Everything was great. The owners were very welcoming offering us a glass of sherry upon arrival and generously offering us extra food (fruit and crackers) to take when we were leaving. Very nice people.

Sam and Rich could not have been more welcoming.
Sam and Rich could not have been more welcoming.
They did so much to insure our comfort, from stocking the refrigerator to providing an electric mattress pad (sheer bliss!). The bed and pillows were very comfortable and cozy. It is a lovely property with a beautiful view. We would not hesitate to stay there again or recommended to anyone.

I wasn't there long enough to do as much exploring as I would have liked. The castle was very interesting wandering in and around there. If I had more time I would have liked to explore more of the town.
Cozy and comfy room right next to the walls of Obidos in an old house with lots of history and interesting antiques. Host João was very helpful and had lots of interesting information to share about the area and the house (and also speaks perfect English). Breakfast was amazing with lots of home made goods in a beautiful dining room. House has a nice shared garden with views.
Free parking on street next to the walls of Obidos, though you might have to look for a space.
Really good location with Obidos Village and Castle being less than 5 min away. The room was super clean and cosy, with one of the most comfortable bed and pillows we've come across (we almost didn't wanna leave lol). You can tell the host paid close attention to details and really cares about the experience for the guests. Thank you for that:)
We'll be coming back for sure
Very helpful and attentive hosts with suggestions on restaurants, walks etc.
Modern, spacious and spotlessy clean apartment with everything provided for a comfortable stay.
Easy parking outside the door and yet within 5 minutes walking distance of Óbidos Castle walls, restaurants and shops.
Good WiFi and multichannel TV, Netflix and Amazon.
Beautiful old home inside the city walls, recently renovated. A perfect location to experience Obidos. Friendly, hospitable couple who own and manage the house. Clean and modem amenities. Generous breakfast including fresh croissants and pastel de Nata that she makes fresh every morning. Very charming space own by a lovely couple.
The location was superb, right near the University with a spectacular view of the city of Coimbra. We loved the history of the hotel, it’s ambience and Anna’s excellent service. Breakfast was a delight and the view from our balcony was fabulous. This hotel was the most wonderful surprise of our trip to Portugal!
