Sintra is good place to be visited for 2-3 days. There are located old palaces and even the castle for a king. There are 2 independent bus lines, which run in circle through most important palaces. Basically you need 2 full days, a day per line to visit all palaces.
right location to visit the must important castles out of Lisbon and closer to the coast attractions. Very safe but better with a car to better enjoy time with no stress from locations, note: use bus and trains in Lisbon. Pena Palace is the first place to go in Sintra + others near attractions. Don't miss to go to the coast of Sintra all along to Cascais.
It is much better, easier, cheaper to stay in Lisbon and just take the train to Sintra (50 minutes - many trains all day both ways). Avoid much of the hill climbing and trekking about town - easy to start from train station and get anywhere.
Sintra is a tourist city. The city is beautiful and full of culture and history. Great for those who love exploring. The only problem is the high prices compared to restaurants and markets in the country's capital. But it's definitely worth it! I highly recommend Sintra!
Like many places in Portugal, a few days here are far from enough! The longer you stay, the more you realize that you didn't come for long enough. This region has so much to explore! From architectural and historic discoveries, to peaceful forest hikes and mind-blowing beaches! My recommendation to anyone coming here for a few days would be to not get overwhelmed with the amount of things to do and simply accept the fact that you'll have to return if you want to explore the region in more depth :) Since it's such a magical place, it can get packed pretty quickly - especially during top-season - so maybe travel during shoulder months or, if this is your summer destination, make sure to pre-book museums, reserve restaurants, and come to places early! And probably don't attempt driving around Sintra. The streets are windy and narrow, and trying to find street parking is virtually impossible. Walking, Ride-share apps, or tuk-tuks are your best bets!
Beautiful spot with lots of history. Very crowded. Peña Palace experience not enjoyable as I would have liked as too many people at once had to shuffle along shoulder to shoulder all the way through. The national palace is better on the inside and less crowded. The bus is a rip off, most expensive bus ride ever!
