Sheraton Cascais Resort - Hotel & Residences

Sheraton Cascais Resort - Hotel & Residences

Cascais

Located in upscale Cascais, the 5-star Sheraton Cascais Resort - Hotel & Residences is surrounded by quality golf courses and is 4-minute drive from the Atlantic Ocean. Very quiet hotel, sound-proof rooms, although I appreciated the birds chirping when relaxing on the balcony. The bed was very comfortable but the sofa in the livingroom was less ergonomic. The staff was well trained to be there when needed but invisible and not at all intrusive when walking the hallways, for example. Silent, well-functioning and smell-free air-conditioning. We really liked that the bedroom had a door that gave the opportunity of using the living area without disturbing the one asleep in the bedroom. The garden surrounding the hotel is amaizing, as well as the entire 'green' neighborhood.

Laid-back Suburban Beach Resort

Cascais is a small city located on the outskirts of Lisbon. Once a fishing village and defence outpost, the royalty transformed it into a stylish summer resort. Mixing beautiful beaches, elegant mansions, imposing fortifications, and a wide variety of hotels, Cascais is a great option for every season.

King Luís II used the city as his summer residence from 1870 to 1908, attracting other celebrities, and changing the destiny of the tranquil village forever. Modern roads and railway lines linking to Lisbon and Sintra were built, as well as a casino and other facilities. Some of the best hotels and 5-star resorts in Cascais date back to these times.

Nowadays, the town is a cosmopolitan beach retreat along the Estoril Coast, where people from Lisbon and other Portugal cities come for a day or weekend escapade. Many foreign tourists prefer its more relaxed hotels over the sometimes hectic Lisbon atmosphere.

Don’t miss the Citadel, rebuilt during the 16th century in a typical star-shaped Renaissance style. Other attractions include the Museum of the Sea and the ‘Paula Rego House of Stories’.

Beach hotels are the gem of Cascais and you can find a wide range on Booking.com. Check your availability with enough time in advance, as the city remains a popular summer destination.
