Cascais is a beautiful town in the suburbs of Lisbon. With a laid-back feel, next to the ocean, and close to great restaurants in the center of town it’s an amazing place to visit and live. About 6 miles from the center of town you get Guincho beach which is great for surfing. Taxis are easy and cheap but so is the bus system around town. There is a train that goes to and from Lisbon but if you decide to instead take a ride share it’s also relatively cheap.
We were there 10 days - centre was very crowded but venture away to the Marina area which is a little less crowded and don't be afraid of the restaurants in the cobbled back streets, we found a local Portuguese restaurant, Restaurante Terroso, Husband and wife duo, the food was excellent, the best we had all trip (Fish soup was terrific). The owner spoke excellent English and very knowledgable about their food & wine. We tried the trip to Sintra, a bit of a disaster, taxi got lost !! We had pre-paid tickets, downloaded audio etc ended up missing everything we'd planned. Best advice I can give is to get taxi to the National Palace then take the bus across the road (434) to Pena Palace and start your visit from there.
Cascais is a lovely area with plenty of good restaurants, bars and shops. Pleasant walks. Train service into Lisbon very good, 40 minutes away. Sintra required two buses, journey back from Sintra uncomfortable as bus full and we had to stand 40 minutes. Estoril can be reached by train too.
Cascais had a lot to offer, lovely child friendly clean beaches. A great seafront to walk/cycle ride in both directions. Dramatic rocks/ inlets with waves crashing. Lots of bars and restaurants. Something for everyone. Sinatra was impressive and was highly recommended unfortunately it was heaving with tourists and the queue for Peña Palace was a 2 hour wait. We spent quite a bit to get there and abandoned it in the intense heat. Book on line and go early morning is the best advice.
Lovely small town with lots of shops and restaurants. It has several beautiful beaches. It is very easy to get around. A few hilly streets but otherwise easy to navigate. There's a small shopping centre with a large supermarket next to the train station. Trains go to Lisbon every 20 minutes. Return fare €4.30.
Revisited Cascais after 30 years - it has certainly changed a lot but it still beautiful. A lot more traffic than there was and a lot more restaurants and activities. It is an easy town to walk around, the historic centre is interesting to walk around - lots of little, quiet cobbled streets. A great mixture of architecture in and around the town. Overall very interesting with lovely beaches, great for sports lovers with watersports and cycle paths along the coast. Very easy train ride to Lisbon and good value tickets.
Everything about this place was amazing! They allowed us to check in early which was so helpful. They were all so kind and very welcoming, and the room we stayed in - wow ...breathtaking views. We ordered breakfast to the room and were able to watch the surfers with our beach facing windows wide open..really unbeatable experience. The hotel itself is such a stunning place as well and the port and snacks in the room - what a nice touch! Highly recommend this hotel.
The location of the hotel is absolutely perfect! It is so central and facing the beach! The staff is very friendly, helpful and professional. The swimming pool is amazing and super clean! The room was very spacious and had an amazing view. Breakfast was lovely, so much choice and good quality food. Loved everything about this hotel! Will definitely come back and recommend it to friends and family.

The property is in a well-located location. only a few minutes to the beach, bars or restaurants. The luxury suite was set up very generously. Cascais
Location is good, next to the beach and the old town. Keys were collected from a lady in a hotel nearby. Car was parked next to a train station (500-meter walk) for free.
