Super clean and comfortable hotel. Our kid got a nice goody bag upon arrival. The staff was super helpful, they took time to explain the town history and marked all the spots we should visit. Beds were super soft and bedlinens felt real fresh. Toiletries were of good quality. Breakfast was plentiful. Everything was top notch. We really felt well taken care of.

Fantastic lodge right in the middle of the national park, gave us the best opportunity to see the Aurora when it started and the activities in the area were amazing too. Excellent food, very comfortable rooms and lots of very nice common areas to sit, read, play a game or have a hot drink. Absolutely fantastic stay would give it more than 10 if I could

Clean and comfortable place.

Clean and comfortable place. Visited "Old town" now for first time and it was nice. Cafeterias were not open, but nice old houses and beautiful church really worth visiting. In Luleå shops are closing very early on Saturday and are closed on Sunday, it would be nice to do shopping longer. On Saturdays difficult to get table reservations to some restaurants, you might wan't to plan your dinner in advance and do booking before trip.

We mainly used Kiruna as our hub in and out of the region. One night in the beginning before driving to Finland, and then a night at the end before flying home. We definitely could have spent more time here. There are a lot of activities you can book in the area. We loved visiting the Ice Hotel, as well as Abisko National Park.

Abisko is a great place for northern lights, best things is joining the chasing tours. Otherwise, there are not a lot of sightseeing places. Getting around is not easy unless you have a car, but on the other hand, there isn't a lot of places you need to go.

The Ice rooms were spectacular. The staff were stupendous, couldn't have asked for a better experience. Loads to do and see in the area, Seen the Aurora Borealis stepping outside our room was supper special, The Dog Sled ride was an exhilarating experience. Taking a breat to heat ourselves up at the Sámi visitors center was delightful. AND the food, YUM YUM YUM....

One day would be enough to walk around Haparanda's features, along the river, the WWII bunkers, and the 1900 Railway Station bult in the Romantic style. If the neighbouring Finish town, Tornio, was included in a visit and you had a car, two days may be warranted. Haparanda railway station will become the first station on the Swedish side of a direct rail passenger service between Findland and Sweden expected to start in late 2025.

The lakeside location was idyllic We travelled to the accommodation on a short snowmobile ride through the forest. The northern lights were visible for two nights of our short stay. Jokkmokk is surrounded by beautiful scenery, lakes, rolling hills, forest. You sometimes pass reindeer on the roads. I was there to participate in a long ski race and everyone I met in Jokkmokk was keen to help.

Gallivare is a mining town and in itself not particularly interesting for holiday takers but it provides good transport options to several of the national parks in the region. It is possible to make some nice walks in the immediate vicinity of the town but these alone are not a reason to travel there.

It was cold around Christmas time, it’s a small city with everything you need but nothing more than that. I waited for the Aurora borealis but barely saw them these depends on the weather conditions I did expected the -25 and am happy that it didn’t got any colder than that

Kiruna is a small, industrial town which, in spite of its small size, offers lots of activities, the most important for me being the Northern Light tours. It is also within 20 minutes from the famous Ice Hotel which is a MUST see. In summer, it also offers other activities. Our stay was quite short so we did not get to see the new city center where there is a museum and other things to see. The interesting fact about the new center is that the church and the houses were literally picked up from the old center and moved to the new one. The reason being the iron mining activities which were a threat to the stability of the old center. Hence the move to a new location. The airport is so cute: a small structure with one terminal and one gate. One walks to and from the airplane to the airport :)

Ensure you layer your legs and hands too !

Ensure you layer your legs and hands too ! When temps hit -18 but wind chill is -28 you're finger tips and toe tips are so cold that it doesnt matter if rest of your body is nice and warm. So ensure you have proper layering on your hands and legs. Nature is beautiful even when its just snow all around there is sooo much to observe and notice from how snow is compacted to different way ice is freezing over. To sooooo many animals just roaming around to how the plants and trees adapt. Clear night skies where you can see stars is breathtaking ! If your used to being picked up after please this isnt the right place. But if you pick up after yourself love to appreciate nature and your not here to click photos for instagram or social media then this place is the place to be in the winters Sad to see few tourists littering beer cans around. Please pick up after yourself this place is till not messed up bu humans its just few rotten apples so if you litter please pick it up and if you see someone littering please call them out.
