We loved our time at Samed Tamarind Beach Resort so very much - we had a villa with a sea view and it was just marvellous and peaceful. The villas are beautifully designed - with an especially luxurious bathroom! It was relaxing and heavenly. The staff were excellent, and always warm and they helped us with everything like taxis to the pier etc. The food was very good as well. Good breakfast! Samed Tamarind is tucked away in a quiet beautiful beach cove on the island - away from the hustle and bustle from the more popular beaches and shopping areas (all of which are easily accessible, however, should you want to explore, by walking or taxi). The hotel is also very well-equipped and prepared to repel mosquitos and insects and take great care doing so. Even if you aren’t carrying your own bug spray - they provide you with some in the room! You should carry it everywhere especially if you’re there during a wet season.

Great location near the best beach, the supermarket and wonderful fruit shops, nevertheless it was quiet. The air conditioning worked not too loud at night. The owner was extremely friendly and helpful, the price was not high, we were satisfied and had a good time at the hotel.

we had a wonderful 4 nights in the Evelia hotel. The hotel is just so fresh, modern and pinterest style. we are so happy that we picked this hotel for our honeymoon. The beach is 2 mins away from the hotel. The breakfast has everything you need for a good filling breakfast. Big thanks to Dip (sorry if we misheard the name) , manager who made our stay even more wonderful, he is a true professional, very kind and always ready to help and solve any problem, can speak English perfectly. We stayed in master suite , it has smart TV, the AC, strong hair dryer , refrigerator and everything you need for comfortable stay. Also, the hotel offers electric bike rent , which is very convenient

Amazing hotel to stay at during the island vacation. The rooms and the bathroom are very spacious and comfortable, daily cleaning. We loved the pool area as well, plenty of shadow in after lunch hours. The territory of the hotel is also very beautiful, green and well mantained. Breakfasts are awesome-great selection of both western and asian dishes, good quality tasty food. Staff is very helpful and friendly. Very nice location as well, you can get to the nearest beach in under a minute and in additional 2-5 minutes you can get to the shops, restaurants and amazing wild beach. Loved our stay and definitely coming back when visiting Koh Samet again :)

We stayed at Baan Ploy Sea for two nights, in a jungle view room. The room was spacious and very clean, and very quiet through the night. Probably a better choice than the sea view rooms, which are right next to the little pool where kids start to play early in the morning. The restaurant is great, clearly one of the best on the island, and breakfast was delicious. Staff is very helpful. The beachfront is clean, and that part of the bay isn't too busy with boats. You can rent a paddle board or kayaks. An extra bonus is the incredibly smooth logistics from mainland to the island and back. If I ever return to Koh Samed, I know where to stay.

The setting of the resort is beautiful and the beach was perfect and great for lazing about all day on a sun lounger and swimming. My room was spacious and comfortable and the bed was the best I’ve slept on in Thailand. Lovely, private balcony to look out over the water. Sound proofing seemed good (or I just had very quiet neighbours). Staff were amazing - remembered who I was, were always so kind and couldn’t do enough to help me. I also enjoyed dining at both Breeze and Buzz Coco restaurants.

The staff at this resort has an exception attitude, full of energy, humor and helpfulness. (exception even for Thai standards, which are very high). Particularly the restaurant staff, with special mentions for Mr. Po, Ms. Kaew and Ms. Jo, made me feel welcome and saw to all my needs and requests with lightning speed. The staff at reception were also very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was very good. Rooms were cleaned properly every day, unless you asked them not to.

The cottages were very clean, beds were comfy and it is right on the beach. You get a beach towel and beach bag which is very convenient. It is close to 7-11 and the main street, yet a bit secluded from any neighbours so it is quite at night. We had a great stay and enjoyed it a lot.

Most definitely the most important thing is to hire a scooter (£10/day) as the Island may not be very big but is a place of great contrast There are some quite "rustic" places and some seriously good quality (at a price) places I discovered the luxury "Kiri Baya" resort right by the southernmost tip - very quite! Also, on the west coast is "Ao Prao" resort - a series of quality hotels and with no road trafic it is ideal for sunsets. You can get ferries direct there from Rayong Pier.

Koh Samet is a fairly easy ride from Bangkok, although the mini buses are not very comfortable. The speed boat ferries are great. The island was very crowded with all sorts in January. In order of numbers I’d say Chinese, Europeans, Russians, Indians, Thais, hardly any Israelis. The main beach was packed, but the atmosphere was quite good. I have been a few times over the last 40 years. I doubt that I would bother going back. It’s just too popular. But then so is Thailand in general!

Koh Samed is lovely and quaint.

Koh Samed is lovely and quaint. However, there is a lot of garbage when you drive around the island. Since it is a national park and there is an entrance fee, I suggest that more of that money could be spent cleaning up garbage.
