Beautiful new hotel , with an amazing rooms and a beach near by.Attention to details and design 5+. The restaurant "reef" and meals was super. The resort is very peaceful as it's far from the main beaches. Ao Thian is small, but beautiful with clear water. I stayed in the Ocean Front Jacuzzi room. The views are amazing, and its balcony is in the perfect position to enjoy the live music and fire show that starts at 19:30 every night. The shower was very hot and very powerful. The wifi throughout the resort was excellent: 300Mbps to 500Mbps. The food at the restaurant was mostly excellent (chicken burger was a let down, but all the Thai food I ate was excellent). There was also a roti stall next to the resaurant, and the roti I had was delicious. Very friendly staff who speak good English. Up the hill there's a shortcut to Ao Wong Duean - Google Maps says it's a 20 minute walk via the main road but the shortcut takes 3 minutes (look out for the blue signs in Thai). There's a small store here called Tom Pizza Mini Mart which stocks the essentials, it's signposted half way along Ao Wong Duean so you can't miss it. You can do a nice walk from Ao Thian, to Ao Wong Duean, then Ao Chor, and finally Ao Nuan. Maybe you can go further but I didn't try. Be prepared to pay charter price (300 baht) for a songthaew to take you to Nadan, unless you want to wait and see if other guests want to travel and share the cost. The ride to/from Nadan takes about 20 minutes.

The setting of the resort is beautiful and the beach was perfect and great for lazing about all day on a sun lounger and swimming. My room was spacious and comfortable and the bed was the best I’ve slept on in Thailand. Lovely, private balcony to look out over the water. Sound proofing seemed good (or I just had very quiet neighbours). Staff were amazing - remembered who I was, were always so kind and couldn’t do enough to help me. I also enjoyed dining at both Breeze and Buzz Coco restaurants.

Wow! What a wonderful find, we loved our stay here. It's definitely the best location on the beach if you're looking for a place that's quiet and has more space. The staff was so friendly, helpful and kind. We booked a bungalow in the back with no sea view, but it was spacious and comfortable and only a few short steps to the beach. The breakfast buffet was very good too. We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again

It started with the exceptional pier service to get to the island. The staff were excellent. The jangle rooms are in the jangle, giving you the feeling that you are in one. The coffee shop in the facility is excellent, especially the chocolate cake. The pool and the beach are great. It was one of our best hotels so far.

Ko Samed is quite close to Bangkok so while it is easy to reach (3hrs bus + 1hr ferry) it can be very busy on weekends and holidays. A longer journey may get you to islands further away but less busy. It is nonetheless a very pleasant place with nice beaches and a relaxed atmosphere

Nice beach & plenty of Restaurants. Fire shows on beach Restaurants are nice. A bit hectic walking on narrow streets with many scooters & cars/taxis. Be sure to check ferry schedule for coming & going. 5 or 6 Local Island boat/snorkeling tour is nice.

Ko Samed is a great beach getaway if you are in Bangkok and...

Ko Samed is a great beach getaway if you are in Bangkok and need/want the beach - it is 1000 times better than Pattaya or Hua Hin, with soft sand and clear water. I go as often as I can, even though it's a 2.5-3 hour drive plus a 10-minute speedboat ride to get there.
