PolandGreat location, it's OK to leave your belongings after you check out for few hours. Staff are very helpful and professional. Our room was clean and had everything we needed in it. Apparently we could have rented bikes from Giant and it would be OK to leave them in the lobby overnight which is great since a lot of people do bike trips in this area.

Rooms were modern with thoughtful additions like a nightlight for the bathroom. We had dinner in the hotel restaurant and had excellent service from a young man who spoke English (he said to call him Yu). The breakfast buffet was extensive, basically a brunch.

Excellent location not far from the ferry. Shops and restaurants are nearby. The owner knows a lot about the culture and background of the island. I needed a screwdriver to fix my equipment, which they provided for me to use (silly guest request ;) )

Amazing hot springs included in the price, including an amazing water slide area for children. Comfy beds, clean room. Friendly staff. Free tea and cakes available 24h. Average breakfast buffet. We would have liked to have stayed longer.

The staff is very friendly, and they help us find a car, so we could tour Taitung.And we went to the hot air balloon venue early in the morning with their help, and got tickets to ride the hot air balloon

Everything. This is really a perfect hotel to stay in Taitung. The staff are very hospitable and knowledgeable. Breakfast and dinner is really good. Will definitely book this hotel again.

We enjoyed Taitung City, just walking around.
We enjoyed Taitung City, just walking around. We also took a bus trip to one of the surf beaches. It was a nice experience. We were there during March and not much was happening. I wish there was more information available about how to get to the surf beaches, which bus, the lenght of travel etc. We misunderstood the tourist bus schedule which goes to the beaches as well and ended up taking a local bus instead. We did have a good time, but it would have been much easier if there was more information available as English is not provided on these bus schedules.

Ok for a 1 night stay, with a half a day or so to cycle...
Ok for a 1 night stay, with a half a day or so to cycle around the area (lake, rice fields, Mr Browns famous tree, etc).
Some good coffee available but not until after 10 - try Inami.
Checkout the vegan bakery in the main street (close to station) even if you are not vegan!
Bicycle hire shop beside vegan bakery is better value than those beside the station.

A shore dive paradise.
A shore dive paradise. The clearest water I've ever seen off the beach. Dive in the mornings and explore the vast landscapes in the late afternoon. An absolutely unique place of nature. I've been twice and I plan to return in the future.

Lots of places to eat.
Lots of places to eat. The fish restaurants a tad expensive though. Some good local food at small cafes. Some good coffee shops. Harbour could do with a face lift but it is a working harbour. The park and beach area lovely to walk around and relax watching the waves crash. The 8 arch bridge area lovely.

Easy to walk around.
Easy to walk around. The train station is a distance from the city but the public bus service is good although not very frequent so you need to plan. Easy bus access to Zhiben Hot Springs. Waterfront isn’t scenic but a pleasant walk through the city forest park and the Hibiscus Garden was magnificent with unusual blooms.

Fabulous town. The lake area is so beautiful to walk around. Also hire bicycles and electric carts to explore the area around the lake. Lots of great photo ops. Fabulous scenery. Great sculptures. Toilet stops. The town has plenty of places and variety of places to eat. Plenty of places to stay to suit all pockets. A quiet town, restful. Able to relax but plenty to see.

The two of us couldn't ride a motorcycle so we had to rent a driver, which was expensive (4500 twd for 1 day) but it saves you from riding near the cliffs/ in the dark at night. We went during the low season and the bus seemed unavailable (and we haven't seen one anywhere during our two-day stay). Would recommend visiting during summer (before October) to avoid the monsoon. Overall it s beautiful albeit somewhat touristy

Great swim in warm Pacific across the street was an unexpected bonus
Host was very pleasant and communicated with Google translate. Drove us to Chenggong for dinner and picked us up for a fee. Mama Song is where he took us and it was very good.
Served delicious breakfast and coffee.
Room and facilities were excellent.
On a noisy main road but we slept well with double curtains and thick windows - and did not need earplugs provided.

Great view of the ocean, a place to relax and get away from the city.
The restaurants there are ample but the most popular will need to get booked in advance.
The location is remote but the journey there, whether by train or driving is a memorable experience by itself. For those who like the ocean front vacation spot, this is the place not to miss. Once over there, rent a motorcycle for the best experiences.
If going there by train, buy the tickets in advance, especially during the weekends or holidays. Train tickets are sold out easily.

I stayed 2 nights in Chishang and it was exactly what I was...
I stayed 2 nights in Chishang and it was exactly what I was looking for - a peaceful rest, in a beautiful location, an easy train ride from Taipei.
There were very few European tourists and not much English spoken, but people were very friendly and keen to help and communicate.
There are heaps of bike and buggy rental places. I hired a bike overnight so could ride along the cycling routes before and after the busiest tourist times. Even when there were lots of people riding around, they mostly stayed on Mr Brown Avenue and the other paths were pretty empty.
I stayed a bit out of town, so a bike also made it easy to get to restaurants, shops, etc.
