It was a great experience staying in Tikibeach resort. To start with the hotel setting, it was perfect, next to the beach, the pool next to beach was perfect. Rooms are massive and clean, and bathrooms were neat. They take good care of hygiene, which is really good. Staff members were super kind and always ready to help. Need to mention the names like Ramazan,Bhutan, and Salehi. Overall, the stay there was great. If I get a chance, I would definitely come and see them again in Zanzibar. Good job done by all serving members.

Johari Beach is a fantastic spot in Kizimkazi. It’s a beautiful luxury boutique hotel with exceptionally friendly and genuinely welcoming staff. Breakfast was excellent—especially the variety of homemade juices and smoothies. The hibiscus juice is a must-try! The beachfront is very clean and equipped with comfortable sunbeds, making it a perfect place to relax. Thanks to the hotel’s small size, it feels very private and peaceful. We stayed in a two-bedroom apartment, which was fully furnished and offered a lovely view. It was spotless, and the morning and evening room service added an extra touch of care and comfort. Overall, it was a 10/10 stay, and I’m already looking forward to coming back!

I stayed at this hotel for one week and absolutely loved every moment of it. The staff were exceptional — always available, incredibly kind, and truly attentive to every detail. They made me feel genuinely cared for throughout my stay. The accommodations were comfortable, well maintained, and perfectly suited for a relaxing vacation. One of the highlights was definitely the breakfast: a varied à la carte menu with great quality and plenty of choice, which made every morning a real pleasure. Everything exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend this hotel and would gladly return

I loved staying here! I arrived alone when I really needed a place to take some time for myself to reflect about the next steps of my stay in the country. This was the perfect solution: it gave me space (the room was so big that it really felt as having a huge apartment all for me), peace (the place is not a party hostel, there is an amazing pool to chill in, the staff is very friendly and kind and shared such positive energies), good food (the breakfast for me was really good and satisfying, a note of merit for the hibiscus juice! Everything from the restaurant in general was also very tasty), flexibility (which is not a given and I really needed, being in an evaluation mode and having to extend my stay several times. Every single time the director was more than happy to welcome me again also being sure that I could stay in the same room. I even had a guest for one night and everyone was very welcoming!), good WiFi network (except for one day, but only because the whole island was off), comfort and everyday cleaning service.

We stayed at Xanadu for a week after our safari and it was a wonderfully luxurious, romantic and secluded experience. The decor was beautiful and unique. It truly felt like an idyllic escape worthy of the name Xanadu. We had the Mawingu sea-front villa, which we believed was the best located in the resort. The private pool was a good size and deep enough to properly enjoy. Our butler Muambo was exceptional: attentive and thoughtful. He created many personalised surprises for us and arranged meals in different parts of the resort so we experienced every corner of the property. The food was some of the best we’ve had on holiday (delicious, high-quality, varied and well balanced portions). The massage was amazing. We also booked external activities through guest relations. While they were more expensive than booking separately, their level of care and follow-up to ensure we were having a good experience made it worthwhile for us. The water was incredibly warm and pleasant at high tide. A few vendors walked along the public beach, however they were respectful when we politely declined. Xanadu is an outstanding place to completely switch off, perfect if you want privacy and romance rather than a social atmosphere. It is ideally suited for a special occasion such as a honeymoon or anniversary.

Due to cancelled flights we had to unexpectedly extend our stay in Zanzibar, and choosing Spice Island Hotel turned out to be the best decision we could have made. Before arriving here we had stayed in two other hotels on the island, but this one was truly exceptional. Everything about the place exceeded our expectations. The rooms are beautiful, spacious and luxurious, and the cleanliness is at a true European standard. The atmosphere is peaceful, elegant and very welcoming. What impressed us the most, however, was the incredible hospitality. Everyone – from the staff to the owners – was extremely kind, attentive and genuinely caring. We were travelling as a family with our 4-year-old daughter and felt completely comfortable. The pool is wonderful, the food is delicious and diverse, and the whole place has such a warm and relaxing feeling. We arrived quite stressed because of the cancelled flights and the uncertainty about our trip, but staying here made us feel calm and truly at home. A very special thank you to Tatyana and her wonderful family for their kindness, care and hospitality. They made our unexpected extra days in Zanzibar truly special. We highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Zanzibar and we would absolutely love to come back again.

The apartment was really spacious and quite literally a stones' throw from the beach. The staff were excellent in all aspects and always happy to help make our stay as comfortable as possible. Special mentions go to Diana, Hope, Hans and Shimsa for making our stay there special. The breakfasts were basic but good, and you can order eggs (boiled, scrambled, poached, omlette) which were really tasty. The lunch/dinner options are also very good and there is the option of room service. Highly recommend the live music evenings which also has a BBQ and buffet with local food.

Paradise! A lovely small resort, I think there’s around 12 rooms so each guest is extremely well looked after by the staff at Belvedere. All staff members were welcoming and helpful with the managers checking in on guests daily. The rooms are fabulous, open your room door and you’re on the beach! The resort takes care of day trips and taxis, or any extra expense and you pay for everything at the end of your stay, which we found very helpful instead of having to haggle prices ect. The resort felt very safe and it’s really well kept.

We loved the views, being able to walk down the beach with the nice view of the hotel was top notch. The food was amazing. They had a variety of options. The service is exceptional

What I loved most was how kind the staff is. Mostafa made sure the meals were served well. I saw him planning everything…lol. The spa experience also, 10/10. The shows at night were interesting. The gym is also decent but they can improve it for sure. The towel station is far from the main swimming pool. I wished there was one closer instead of going all the way near the reception.

There are better locations both North and South of Paje.

There are better locations both North and South of Paje. Paje is set up to spend - the local supermarket, for example, was selling Nivea sun cream at $30 per bottle! Food was fine though nothing overly exciting, to be honest and certain places along the beachfront were selling basic burgers for nearly $16 - which seemed to be the norm. There were plenty of other financial aspects which, whilst not being personally prohibitive, will certainly be for others coming to Zanzibar for the first time: mandatory insurance upon arrival, tourism tax at the hotel (despite having paid for the hotel in advance) and the general cost of everything. On Paje beach it is easy to be a target which led to us hiring scooters to get out of there and explore other beaches on the island. Seemingly everyone is out to fleece (even a keyring was priced at $12 on the beach) - so I would advise everyone to have their wits about them and not allow themselves to be stopped every 5 minutes or so. Aside, it is not all negative: the beaches are as beautiful as any in the world and the snorkelling (from a Dhow) was spectacular.

Kizimkazi is one of those quiet, peaceful towns with no crowds of foreigners and without an overwhelming number of local vendors constantly trying to sell you something. There are no nearby restaurants and it is not really suitable for sightseeing walks, as there is not much to see, but it is perfect for a family holiday or for anyone who wants to escape the noise and simply enjoy the truly serene, paradise-like side of Zanzibar.

This place is a gem! A new hotel with a big heart, right by the ocean, surrounded by peaceful gardens and a stunning pool. The rooms are spacious and stylish, the breakfast is fresh and delicious, and very friendly staff. The connection to the hospitality school is inspiring—it's not just a great stay, it’s also supporting something meaningful.. It’s rare to find a place that feels this good in every way. I loved Jambiani .... a small & friendly village....perfect for quiet holiday seekers! Mango Resort was the best place for me for accommodation! The village people were fun & friendly. It is much less busy than Paje. Which was perfect for me. It is very easy to get about walking or on Tuk Tuk...very safe even to walk at night in my opinion. The Jetty Cafe was a lovely little place too, a short walk from Mango Resort heading towards Paje. Serving snacks & drinks etc.
