A short distance from breathtaking waterfalls and within driving distance of Hawaii National Volcanoes Park, SCP Hilo Hotel offers comfortable accommodations and a swimming pool. The room had two queen beds, both beds were comfortable and my husband and I had good night sleeps. We were surprised with the bedding. My husband likes having his evening coffee, it was a short trip into the lobby to get him his coffee with their 24 hour service. Every staff we encounter were friendly.

We could pull our curtains open and watch the sunset or sunrise over the ocean. We could open our porch door and listen to the ocean waves. It was fabulous! The rooms were clean. The staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly. We would stay here again.

Have you ever been in this dilemma before: you love a place so much that you want everyone to know so the business would thrive, but at the same time, you want to keep it a secret and keep all of it to yourself just in case it gets too busy? That's how I feel about Hawaiian Ohana Home. Cosy, homey and clean, this place is a hidden gem nested in a residential area in Hilo, away from all the noise and bustling commercial area, yet it's within minutes of drive to the busy area of the town. Sitting on a gentle slope, Hawaiian Ohana Home also offers a great view of the surrounding area. However, what makes Hawaiian Ohana Home truly exceptional is its owner, Diana. I struggle to put it in words; in short, Diana is like that cool aunt that I never had: although we've only met, it felt like I came to visit a beloved family member. I could tell that other guests shared my feeling based on the atmosphere around the table at breakfast times, it felt like a family reunion. During my trip in Hawaii, I've learned that "ohana" means "family", and Hawaiian Ohana Home certainly is true to its name. If I'll drop by Hilo again, I know where I'll be staying at.
