Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.

When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

BrazilNobody came to clean my room for 3 nights. I complained with reception and the housekeeper lied saying I had the privacy sign at the door. I travel all over the world and I never had this problem before. Of course I wouldn’t put a sign if I wanted my room cleaned.

CanadaThe front desk credit machines kept malfunctioning and rejecting our credit cards. They insisted it was our card but it was not and they didn't seem eager to fix it. Eventually one employee suggested inserting the card then entering the charges and that worked. Also, I asked for some ice for the room and they charged us for it. Not a big deal but can't they give us ice for free? Last, the pool was not very clean.
Room was comforatbe with a nice bathroom. Ample storage and outlets for charging. Balcony is small, but nice to have. The location is perfect. Close to a few small stores and a 2 minute walk to Paulista Avenue. Staff was friendly. Breakfast was very good.

Lovely, cozy breakfast room with winter garden and terrace to sit outside. Avenida Paulista is a perfect place to visit on Sunday! Rooftop with swimming pool and fitness room. Friendly staff and good breakfast. Will be my first choice when returning to Sao Paulo.

CroatiaPool is pretty dated...also one annoing detail my husband was pretty sick and I wanted to bring a a piece of toast and cup of tea up to his room as he was unable to come down for breakfast and the staff did not permit it even when I explained he was pretty sick and begged to make an exeption. I understand that there are certain rules but in a hospitality business you would expect better understanding and willingness to help a guest in need.

Nice staff and delicious breakfast. They kept my suitcase after checkout free of charge and offered a discount in the parking fee. Despite being near very busy streets, the room was very silent.
