Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesNowhere secure to put luggage before check-in time. No staff on hand. It would have been much better to have been allowed to enter the first door and leave luggage in the hall.
The bright blue shutters, the glorious view in the sunshine, the location, the simple comfortable rooms and beds.

NetherlandsPrices for the restaurant were Swiss - meaning expensive compared to other countries.
Very convenient hotel if you want to hike the Lötschberg Süd route. Rooms are simple, but kept clean and with all that is required. I enjoyed the opportunity to sit on the balcony with a view on the BLS railway line and the Rhône valley. Restaurant has a classical Swiss menu

Switzerlandour stay didn't look like the photos online. the house is old, so it was very very noisy if somebody moved around even in another part of the house. the shower in our room wasn't separated from the beds which was pretty inconvenient. the facilities were outdated. the walls are covered with dark wood which makes it all even worse. given the price, the breakfast was very underwhelming and disappointing. it isn't a place you would love to stay longer.
24h access to the breakfast bar. the view.

United StatesSeemed expensive for the quality of the rooms. It was a lovely location, and great basic, comfortable accomodations and meals, but prices were comparable to boutique hotels in cities. Also, none of the window boxes or planters had flowers or plants, so it was dreary.
Location was perfect for hiking

SwitzerlandThere was a mistake in the booking and the room we booked online turned out to be not available (or non existing?). We arrived and were told there is only the room with a separate shared bathroom, no ensuite bathroom. Ok, we were tired - no problem. Obviously we expected that the price would be lowered by the owners given this mistake, which was clearly their fault not updating Booking.com correctly. However, already at arrival - before even seeing the room - we were prompted to pay (which we refused). The room then turned out to be extremely old and not renovated probably since the 60s. We had seen the reviews and were certainly not expecting a 5 star experience, but the mattresses were unbelievably laid out and one could hear literally every word spoken by the people in the rooms around us given the very thin wooden walls. So the night was not exactly comfortable. At check out, we were informed that it was apparently US being too loud and others had complaint about us. I mean, - even if this was the other guests' objective opinion (we thought the same), which hotel owner is passing on this information in a rude tone where he knows exactly that his wooden walls are to blame!? Just rude. The situation became even more rude, when we asked for a small discount of 10% given the bathroom situation. In the end, we settled on a FIVE chf discount (ridiculous, 4%). After having paid, we realised that the owner was so stingy as to deduct only THREE instead of five Swiss francs from the overall bill. She didn't even give us a chance to recheck the bill and just took the card as fast as possible. We left gutted and extremely upset about this extremely bad experience. It is not about the two Swiss francs, but the rudeness and stinginess with which we were treated!
The hotel has a great view over the valley and a restaurant. The food in the restaurant was good and there were many options based on seasonal produce. We could place our bikes in the garage. At breakfast, there was very good homemade rye bread.
